Agreed. I love the tone of the Max Richter Piano. His Noire library has long been one of my favorite sampled pianos. It sometimes makes me forget that I really can’t play very well anymore!

I admit, I fall in love with certain sample libraries. Especially pianos, electric pianos, organs, reed organs, guitars, acoustic drums, percussion, and strings (especially cellos and violas) and I’ve fallen in love with the sound of the Max Richter piano. But I have yet to buy it. I will take anyone interested along with me as I research this sample library and share what I find along the way.

First, I wanted to see if there were credible journalist reviews of this library, and there is. Sound on Sound, my got source for plugin and sample library reviews, did one. Beyond asking my musician friends, the second place I turn to research this stuff is Sound on Sound:

Most of the bigger influencers that demand $15,000 or more to do a “review” of a sample library have ignored this library and only the micro influencers who will do a video in exchange for free products with the hope of getting more free product or paid work from a developer have paid attention to it. Guy Michelmore is an influencer who is different. He will highlight developers of libraries he really loves without looking for money. He fell in love with this library and I’m quite sure that is sincerely how he feels (unlike influencers looking for buck who will hype up anything they get for free or with money or the hope of future money). I enjoy guy’s videos and he’s a fan of small developers I love like Orange Tree Samples and Ben Osterhouse who I know don’t pay influencers to shill for their brands.

Max Richter is a legend, one of the OG composers in the contemporary “classical” minimalism genre, and one of my favorites. He won’t make shit.
