Forums › DEALS › Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals › Strix Instruments Emisynth for Kontakt – 90% Off – $9.90 (reg. $99)
The developer, based in Ukraine, states that this Kontakt library (it requires the full version of Kontakt):
“[includes] eleven unique Soviet children’s synthesizers, which have survived to this day: the age of these instruments is from 30 to 50 years!
The sound recording was done from the original speakers of these instruments, thus the sound is as intended by the designers.
It feels like we’ve put an entire era in a few gigabytes of data.”
I don’t know about you, but I always appreciate finding a preset playthrough video when I’m researching a new sample library or synth and I always encourage developers to make them or to work with an influencer to make them. Here’s one with no talking, which I find ideal:
FREE: Kontakt Libraries, Synth Presets Loops & Sound FX
TOOLS: Mixing Problem Solver, Songwriter's Toolbox, , QuickGuides, Gear Reviews, Mags & Podcasts
This library is not one for everyone. The key point is that these are mostly children’s keyboards and not the classics like the Polivoks or Aelita. Still, as the preset walkthrough shows, they managed to get some interesting sounds from the obviously limited source material.
The developer has another product called “Pripyat Pianos” in which they recorded pianos in a variety of venues in an abandoned village in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Again, not a bread and butter library but it is an interesting concept.
