$105 at Presonus for Upgrade, Crossgrade, or new purchase. Oddly apparently no discount on the subscription (still shows $180).
Best prices at Best Service. Use the links below to support LM (thank you). (all prices $90.80)
Best price I’ve ever seen for a S1 upgrade. I’m going to hold off until after Xmas.
Anyone know how long the freebie with purchase lasts? End of the month?

That’s a better deal than I got and I still need to install it! Still, I’m happy that I got it.

I’m still holding out until I see the next couple updates. Wasn’t very interested in what V7 has brought to the table, or more importantly (to me,) what has been left to wither on the vine.
Sorry if you posted this before, but do you have another DAW that’s your main DAW? I know if I had more free time, I’d at least get FL Studio, mainly because the workflow is different than Cakewalk and can be fun / inspiring, causing me to think differently. My reality is, I mainly just use my DAW like a Multi-track recorder.

I was going to wait for the next update before upgrading to see if it was worth it to me. However, this discounted update price may lure me in. If this holiday discount occurs every year, then I’m essentially on a discounted fee update cycle. Hmmm, it is a bit of a gamble. The first Version 7 update didn’t do anything for me

Off the top of my head, it’ll add ALL of the peripheral software, like the Consoles and Batch Processor which I’ve been eyeing for a while. It’s silly that a $25 difference in update price every 2 years or so really got my attention, but it did. (?)
PS. I’m still really annoyed – and mystified – that they killed of the forum …

Yeah, their killing off their forum. From a customer perspective, sucks. From a business perspective, it is absurd.
From a brand’s perspective, having a support forum (1) lowers the cost of providing customer support, (2) creates a community of users that can help expose the brand to new users, (3) provides a direct channel for the brand that enables better understanding of how users think and to float new product / functionality ideas…
It’s just a really bad idea. I think a lot of times the problem boils down to who smart their marketing department is — and internal politics. Specifically, what dept owns the forum. To some departments it’s not looked at related to its benefit to the business and ROI perspective, but seen as a burden. It really needs to be looking at more strategically in terms of its value to the organization, for its role in reducing costs and providing customer support and satisfaction to a wider audience of customers at a lower cost than other channels, and the role it has in retaining customers. Big companies get it. Years ago, I interviewed to run Microsoft Windows online. They get it; it’s very important to them (one of my former colleagues was in charge of their customer support forums — although I haven’t stayed in touch and I’m not sure what she’s been doing the past several years). They see its value. But these, much smaller software developers, too often don’t. As a Presonus customer, it’s very disappointing to see that move; it’s an affront to its customer base, IMO.

Are you sure the Consoles are part of it? If you scroll down to the Compare table, Audio Batch Converter (Extension) is definitely included with the perpetual licence. But Pro+ Effects Plug-ins including all MixFX is only included with the subscriptions – I’m not sure if the Consoles are considered MixFX plugins.

I’m guessing they paywalled it, rather than got rid of it (emphasis is from source):

I’m tempted too… Is it possible to buy the licence upgrade to 7, not register it until the 8 version announcement, then register it and get the new version during the “grace period”? Hmmm … 🤔
There will be no version 8: v7 is the final major-numbered release. But v7 will receive ongoing updates, e.g. 2025-Q1, 2025-Q2, etc. When you buy, you get 1 year of updates. That likely means if there’s a bug and your one year elapses, you won’t receive a bug fix (as I understand it) unless you buy another year of updates.

Found something there at the end of the article…

I only bought and installed V7 yesterday, so I am learning the newer features. The feature I am most interested in is the clip launcher. and loop features in the timeline I always used the scratchpad extensively to do the same kind of thing, but it was not nearly as fast to jumble clips. The new launcher makes S1 work like (a MUCH reduced features) Ableton/Bitwig, and bonus for me- it supports my Launchpad X for mouse-less clip fiddling.
Mentioned elsewhere, I was also really discouraged that Presonus killed the forum- BUT: Presonus only paid the light bill. They never participated. All of the “wizards” that actually solved members issues were 100% volunteers, although several do have pecuniary relationships with Presonus. Sidenote- if you want to see actual deep developer/employee involvement, nobody tops IL / FL Studio on their forums. All of the Presonus wizards have joined Lukas Ruschizka’s forum at https://studiooneforum.com/ Highly recommended.
I don’t understand why Presonus didn’t just leave the old forum up, but closed to new posts. There was a wealth of helpful information there for people that want to keep using versions before 7. They shot themselves in the foot. On the one hand they seemed to be pushing people to 7 or a subscription, but on the other hand Studio One supports CLAP and DAWProject open source features and runs on Linux, all of which are very “customer friendly” features.

You’re right! I had thought the Mix Effects were included in the perpetual option, but I stand corrected. From your page: “Pro+ Effects Plug-ins including all MixFx”are clearly NOT a part of the perpetual license, so I guess you lose access when your subscription ends.
I wonder what happens to the MixFX I already own? I see they are “sold out” in the store. Not a deal breaker, just another unclear annoyance.
I do however appreciate being able to keep my perpetual license…

Those are all great points. Back in my Cakewalk days if I had a problem I always went straight to the forum for an answer, rather than support, because it was quicker (you could usually get an answer in an hour or two). Plus, I was surprised at how connected I felt to the other users. I remember on one occasion telling my wife, “It’s really a great bunch of guys” as if we were a coffee klatch that was reminiscing on our days in boot camp together. I also noticed that the good will I had towards the other forum users I transferred to Cakewalk itself. Given that, as well as Peter’s comments, I really hope PS will give a bit more thought to having a forum. It seems like a hugely valuable asset to me.

I believe existing licences will be respected and you can continue to buy others from 3rd party resellers, e.g.
https://www.jrrshop.com/presonus?dir=desc&order=special_from_date
A few people noticed they disappeared from Presonus’ shop a while back when subscription-only rumours were doing the rounds. Apparently someone said on Presonus’ (now closed) forum that they would only temporarily be unavailable while they updated their shop and were still available to buy from resellers.
That said, I haven’t seen this information presented ‘officially’. And so it’s anyone’s guess if this will remain to be the case in future.
