I just wanted to give another update. ALL SITE ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED AND THE SITE IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY.
We lost several posts in the process, so apologies for that, but the technical team resolved all issues and the site is now faster than ever (the new server has twice the RAM and twice the cores of the previous server, and even though it is no longer located in Chicago where I live, it’s still faster for me; but I tested it using Google’s developers tools and found the server response time has improved after the move using their tools).

I’m sure all of our tech professional members — and we have a lot in our community and I realize you guys know this stuff better than a marketing/business guy like me! — understand why, with our web traffic increasing month after month from around 50% to more than 90%, we needed to significantly increase the RAM and cores with the new server to handle things (as well as start using a CDN). We were having outages from traffic/resource spikes that were occurring as much as twice a week. That growth is a mixed blessing because it comes with a lot of additional costs in terms of server and I was getting concerned about bandwidth use / costs on that end too with the previous contract. It would have been incredibly easier to just keep this as a subreddit. But we’re able to do a lot more with this site. But the time to manage this and the costs are not insignificant and I’m sure is a reason we primarily don’t see grassroots communities like this, it’s expensive and incredibly time-consuming.

Clearly, there are a significant number of folks who see the benefit of having a non-toxic, non-developer-owned community of music producers and I’m grateful to see that and excited about the future of LinkedMusicians.

Thanks for being a part of it. Know that there’s A LOT of great things we can do with this community as we grow, and especially as we see more interaction on the site. So please, tell others about this community and all we have to offer.
