UVI Mello (Mellotron Plugin) $19 US

Being a huge Mellotron / Chamberlin fan, I own this and it’s very nice. It doesn’t have anywhere the amount of patches you’ll find in M-Tron Pro or Sampletron 2. UVI Mello only has 12 patches, but for under $20 US, I think it’s very worthwhile.

I don’t have Arturia’s Mellotron. But I admit it, I want it. I do. I want every Mellotron plugin and library. I’m not even kidding. It’s like me with Wurlitzer libraries and piano libraries. I’d say that about acoustic drum libraries, but I usually don’t want the metal ones. Nope, I am a sucker for Wurly and Tron libraries and plugins. Even when it’s the same Tron / Chamberlain tapes, there’s enough variations in the libraries that I enjoy having multiple ones. I have Dave Kerzner’s Kontakt version of his Tron and Chamberlain in addition to the first SampleTron. I have M-Tron Pro (my go to). I have UVI Mello. I have several Tron Kontakt libraries. I have libraries that emulate the Tron vibe.

At some point, I would LOVE to have Tron and Wurly forums where superfans like me can obsess over them!

I almost forgot, one of the cool things about this Tron plugin is that it gives a lot of additional effects and controls and the option to stretch the samples beyond the original Tron keyboard range. For my fellow Tron / Chamberlin fans, watch the video to get an idea of its capabilities.

I have Arturia’s Mellotron and IK’ Sampletron 2. I prefer the Sampletron 2 because of huge Tron & similars library and the quality of the samples.

Okay, my promoting the free sample library lists totally looks like an ad — I suppose it kind of is. But it’s for free stuff and I just want to make sure that everyone is aware of he content because most of the people who visit the page are from outside our community.

If anyone is looking for free Tron sounds or any other sounds, the most popular page on this site are the free Kontakt libraries and free libraries for various free samplers.They include links to several free Tron libraries, including one that uses the same sample pool that Decentron used. Together, the two pages of free sample libraries have more than 400 sampled instruments, all reviewed and only the ones I felt were recommendation-worthy made the lists.

Tell others. Those two pages see average view times of 4 to 5 minutes each and I regularly update them (the Kontakt one has been getting a lot more of my time lately, but I’ll spend more time on the other one soon). There are also related threads in the free instruments and effects forum.

I have several other trons but this is pretty great when combined with Falcon’s effects etc. I also like the keynoise feature.  Pleased with my purchase.

Thank you guys for the insights about this! I have the IK SampleTron and as a fan of these dusty sounds I was considering the UVI one but your comments made me realize I might not need this 😉 GAS avoided!
