@superrabbit I recently got Pianoverse MAX and absolutely love it. I had high expectations and found it exceeded them. An instant go to that rates up there with Noire, Evolution Rosewood Grand, my two favorites.

My BF spending this year has been meager compared to previous years.
Of far I’ve limited myself to
Of course there are other things I’d like to pick up (like a NI Komplete Collection upgrade) but the budget sucks this year.
@fretman, no, the spreadsheet is associated with this video instead:
I tend to think of interface gain staging for recording guitar & bass as applicable to getting a good DI recording.
Unfortunately getting a good recording may not necessarily be the issue with getting a good sound out of an amp sim plugin.
Early Line 6 plugins like Amp Farm or DI Silver/Gold didn’t like hot levels (or even moderate levels). They were programmed to use the meager levels their related DI boxes put out – and feeding the plugin a what should have been a properly gain staged input would overload the plugin killing any dynamics in your playing as well as just sounding like crap.
If you have a good DI recording and your plugin isn’t sounding right – try adjusting the input gain to the plugin (not on the plugin) and see if it requires a lower or hotter signal to hit its sweet spot.
