Bottom line is it is a one year subscription, starting with the date you redeem the code sent to you, with access to all back issues. Ignore the text.

I bought some of his early stuff which was pretty much garbage. He has a reputation of pumping out releases which quickly become abandonware. Fire sales are the norm for his plugins as well.
