It’s lovely, @nickblanc. Very melodic and easy to get lost in. As usual, Inge’s voice sounds wonderful on it. I have one (silly) question: I saw an acoustic guitar in the video. Is that going to be played in an upcoming song, and if so, is it yours or Inge’s guitar?

Check out my music.
Thanks! It has this chill dreamy vibe to it, so I get where you’re coming from.
Regarding the guitar; it’s mine. Inge was between houses and borrowed it for a couple of months while hers was in storage. The chances of me playing it are slim to none. I’ve lost a couple of digits on my fingers and I would have to ‘rework’ (I don’t know the english term) the strings so I can do the fretboard with my right hand. It’s more for decoration and for guests who want to play. Hence the black colour, it looks cool.
Nick the Analog Mad Scientist, baby, YEAH!! 🙂
I must assume all that hardware cost ya a fair amount, and you put it to great use. Brought me right back to my days in the USAF, when I was stationed in Belgium – dancin’ at three in the morning, well-tanked up on Bacardi & Cokes at La Mas de Corennes club to stuff just like your song.
Good times.
One thing I’d like to take note of: the fact that you don’t look like a “techno” kinda’ guy (and that’s a good thing). You look like one o’ my “good ole boy” Arkansas and Tennessee truck driver pals back in the States (God bless ’em!). And the light didn’t adversely affect the song, or video. I call it an “aesthetic happenstance”, or what Bob Ross would have deemed “a happy accident.”

…and several more, as well as some solo workThanks for the comment. Love that it lets you revisit some memories. Yeah it’s not a cheap hobby, but it is worth it. It has always been my dream to have a studio, and now I have it! The trucker hat and beard is a bit leaning into my current physique haha. Years ago I was this bodybuilder dude with just a 9 o clock shade, decent haircut and tight polo shirts haha.
1Good stuff, Mister Nick! How do you keep track of what’s going on with all those knobs, switches, cords, cables, and assorted whatnot… and still crank out the righteous grooves?
Is that a Prophet 5 I see, or one of the more “modern” models? I loved that synth sound on so many of my favorite bands’ songs and albums.
I’d love to hear your rendition of Kraftwerk’s “Trans Europe Express.”

…and several more, as well as some solo workWell to be honest, sometimes I have something in mind and when I’m recording I completely forget about it. So this is basically the best I could do with a sh*tty memory haha. So I keep a bit of a system where I don’t want to be doing too much or else it takes away from the idea. The prophet is a 6. And while no 5, it still has a mode to sound like it and it overall just sounds awesome. Cuts through every mix.
July 13, 2025 at 4:23 am in reply to: Melodic Techno Studio Jam feat. Inge – “Raak me aan” (Dutch) #1000031838Very cool and I like how it ends! As usual, you and Inge fit together very well.

Thanks, I upped the reverb on the vocals for the second half of the track to make it sit a bit more in the background against all the synths. So it competes a bit less for space.
Yeah I will keep on posting it here. Stuff needs time to grow and what works is just being consistant. It doesn’t matter if the response is slow in the beginning, it will come.
I do have everything on Soundcloud as well. https://soundcloud.com/fromhillrecords
Thanks, Nick! If you didn’t already notice, if you go to the upper right-hand column on this page (and other Forum pages) there is now a SoundCloud player embedded streaming the first LM Mixtape. I’m putting the compilations on there. I will work on making one with just my favorite songs of yours and also include some of your songs on a Mixtape that features electronic music that I’ll put on Forum pages to replace the current Mixtape (okay, it’s a playlist! But I’m calling them Mixtapes).
Bring back mixtapes!

Cool. I really like the beat and the — I don’t know the right word — so I’ll hardness or gittiness of it. Very cool. Nice job and I thought the thumbnail was a good choice too.
Thanks! Thumbnails are a weird thing. I can barely make out on the screen of the camera if I’m in focus or not, so this was more a lucky shot 😅
May 25, 2025 at 5:19 am in reply to: Melodic Analog Techno Studio Jam feat. Inge – “Don’t be afraid” #1000029679Haha fun thing is, the spots above the synth setup is part of a Philips Hue system. And I recently got an app which could react to sound and relay that to the lights. So I will be experimenting with that.
For the techno part, oooof man, it’s becoming a bit silly like the metal scene where there’s 34 different genres. Uptempo hardtechno is all the hype nowadays with artists like Klofama and Kruelty. I don’t like it personally, I like hard but this is silly hard. Then there’s a huge label called Afterlife which does insane liveshows (recently with arist Anyma in the sphere in Las Vegas), it’s much more melodic and more adjecent to trance.
But there are still oldschool acts around which have evolved. Carl Cox is almost ancient but he does really awesome hybrid stuff (DJ and live togehter), some goes for Richie Hawtin.
Very cool! I really enjoyed it. Kudos. But I would have greatly preferred a Cubs hat! Hahaha. 🙂

Haha I’m already proud I removed that idiotic sticker on the cap.
Harrison channel strip was hard to resist for $6.25.
Tangled roots perplex her ways.
Not a bad choice. I wanted Subgen, and since that seems to never go on sale I got that, but I added the Harrison as well.

This sounds great and Inge has such a great voice
Really enjoyed this one
Nigel
Thank you, that’s very kind. And yes she does have a great voice.
December 5, 2024 at 9:57 am in reply to: Melodic Techno Jam feat Inge – “Follow me down” #1000020752Excellent. She has such a lovely voice and it really suits the music well. Very cool tune. Kudos to you both.
Your friend who keeps the beat. I suppose I’m also the chef at this place.
Thanks! Much appreciated. You’ll have to do without her for a couple of weeks. We will be recording our christmas special this week (that is, if she recovers well enough from a cold), so everything between now and the sundag before xmas is just little ol’ me.

- Canopener studio, for headphone correction
- Vulf Compressor, amazing heavy colored compressor. Instant vibe.
- Good dither, because your DAW’s dither sucks (Ozone’s and Fabfilter’s too)
- Trem control. Just a very very good tremolo with stuff just not available with other tremolo’s
They are not the cheapest and only do 1 sale a year.
