News flash! We’re increasingly seeing developers registering for LinkedMusicians. Clearly, the word is starting to spread. If you’re a developer, or an employee or contractor of a developer or retailer that sells music-related products or services, please be sure to read our Community Rules (linked near the bottom of the navigation bar) before posting. In a nutshell, you need to create a signature that identifies you and the company you’re affiliated with, and hold to all the rules, such as posting no more than one topic per month on the company you’re affiliated with.
3 CommentsThe message at the bottom is in several languages. From what I can tell it’s Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and I’m not sure of the others. You might appreciate that it was created by a bunch of residential neighbors in Chicago after a hate crime in the neighborhood and the people banded together to show support for the diverse neighborhood, and especially for the ethnic groups that the perpetrators targeted. It’s completely non-partisan, BTW and they’re very clear about that in their messaging on their site. It’s a values-driven, non-profit message and group of neighbors, not some folks looking to make a buck.
I love the values and spirit of it. I live in a diverse neighborhood with my family and some of my neighbors had put the yard sign — which is what the image comes from — out on their front lawns after a spree of hate crimes not far away targeting a Jewish deli and two incidents targeting Sikhs (two of my neighbors who are friends were very shaken up by it). I should have one of these signs in front of my house. Considering that the hate and intolerance that was being posted by a small group of Cakekwalk Forum members as well as how common hate speech and online bullying, trolling and harassment has become in social media as a whole, I wanted to send a clear message that hate, trolling, and bullying aren’t acceptable in this community.
