The LinkedMusicians community is built on the belief that diversity of thought and people are invaluable. We’ve worked hard to foster a space where you can share honest, unfiltered experiences with gear and the brands that sell to music creators—the good, the bad, and the glitchy—without the noise of hype, manipulation, undercover contractors shilling, the pressure of personal attacks, or censorship for sharing a less-than-glowing experience.
We believe transparency is the bedrock of trust. In a landscape where many legacy platforms are owned by the very developers they discuss, or are heavily reliant on developer advertising, the line between “community” and “marketing” has blurred. Too often, this results in the censorship of valid criticism. Worse, it leads to environments where platforms are weaponized to attack competitors or engage in deceptive practices using “proxy” reviews and attacks on competitors by site owners and undercover developer contractors.
LinkedMusicians is different because it is musician-owned. We operate without the conflicts of interest inherent in developer-owned communities. Our first priority—and our core point of advocacy—is the music creator.
We don’t play defense for developers who want criticism censored. Instead, we are firm believers that the best brands are those that respect honest conversation. Engaging ethically with the buying public is a responsibility, not an option.
To celebrate our first year and the principles we stand for, we are going out with a bang. Our friends at IK Multimedia and Orange Tree Samples—developers who share our respect for the creator community—have stepped up to offer $378 in prizes for our members.
This isn’t just a giveaway; it’s a “thank you” to the members who have helped us build a non-toxic harbor for musicians.
As we celebrate this milestone, we are also making a pragmatic move to ensure the long-term sustainability of the LinkedMusicians mission. To double down on our commitment to being a resource-first platform, we will be transitioning the social media and forum aspects of the site to a read-only archive later this month. While we are closing the forums and “Open Mic” this momth at this location, we are still going to maintain our community on the LinkedMusicians subreddit. We will use this site to expand upon the features that provide the most objective value to your workflow and this site will become a high-powered Tool and Resource Suite.
If you haven’t explored your LinkedMusicians dashboard lately, you’re missing out on tools designed to bridge the gap between inspiration and a finished master. These resources will remain active and exclusive for our members:
This transition allows us to keep the “Safe Harbor” open while focusing on the technical tools that actually help you finish your music. We are proud of the community we’ve built, the ethics we’ve maintained, and the tools we’ve created.
Join us this month for the giveaway, explore the PowerSEARCH tools, and help us celebrate a year of creator-centric advocacy.
