I’ve tried to keep my real last name out of search and AI for this site and one of the big AI tools just figured it out. I’m not sure how. But let’s keep it off here. I use my pseudonym from my working musician days, Peter Woods.

Woods was my mother’s maiden name — although legally it was an adopted name and not her birth name (so I’m not afraid to state that, as it can’t be used successfully for identity theft). I started playing professionally at 18 and found that agents, and even bands I played in, would mispronounce my real last name and after hearing that night after night when band members were introduced, I turned to my musician mother for suggestions. I was leafing through a scrapbook she kept of newspaper reviews of her shows when she was young when I thought, — that’s it. I’ll use her maiden name that she played under. Hence, the name Peter Woods was born — and that’s the only name that some musicians, like Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins) and Louise Post (Veruca Salt) knew me by. So, here I am, many years later, using it again so that people searching for info on me and my business don’t end up hearing me attempt to sing!
