Best Free Kontakt Bass Libraries: Electric & Acoustic Bass
A solid bass foundation anchors any arrangement, whether you need a punchy Fender Precision bass for rock and pop, a warm acoustic upright for jazz and folk, or deep sub-tones for film scoring. While high-end deep-sampled bass libraries can cost hundreds of dollars, several developers offer incredible free options for Native Instruments Kontakt that deliver authentic tone, dynamic velocity layers, and great playability.
Here is a curated collection of the top free electric and acoustic bass sample libraries for Kontakt.
(Note: If you are looking for dedicated VST plugins outside of Kontakt, Ample Sound’s Ample Bass P Lite II is also widely considered one of the finest free standalone bass virtual instruments available, while I would consider IK Multimedia MODO Bass the other top choice for electric bass guitar. If you are looking for synth bass, sub-synths, or electronic low-end patches, visit our dedicated Free Kontakt Synth Libraries Guide. For standalone VST plugins outside of Kontakt, Ample Sound’s Ample Bass P Lite II is also widely considered one of the finest free standalone bass virtual instruments available.)
