“The GURDY is the most complete and fully featured Hurdy Gurdy sample instrument on the market (or Wheel Fiddle as we like to call it). Every nuance and real life quirk has been painstakingly recreated, from both a sampling and a scripting level, bringing true-to-life Gurdy performance techniques to your digital writing environment. With a fully chromatic design for every drone string, adaptive turns and other live performance techniques for the melody strings. Along with aftertouch and a moveable ‘dog buzz’ threshold for the iconic buzzing bridge effect. There’s even percussive sounds, and fingernail drone slides to boot – your inner Folk-Pirate virtuoso will be clawing to be released.”

I’d LOVE to get a Hurdy Gurdy, but I already have 4 (Sonokinetic, SonicCouture, Edu Pradu, Loot Audio) so not sure I NEED another one. But this one sure sounds good!
I have the Sonokinetic Hurdy Gurdy and the Edu Prado Hurdy Gurdy. The Soniokinetic one was free, and I don’t find it very usable. I really like the Edo Prado Hurdy Gurdy. And yeah, I think I’ve probably picked up another one at Loot Audio too! Us sample library hoarders have a lot in common! This library does sound really good in the video the developer made (below).

All three moderators—in the thread — all of us on a tangent on hurdy gurdies! For anyone worried about going on friendly, music-related tangents at LinkedMusicians, worry no more! That’s a quality we value here! Why did we go on tangents? Out of our love of hurdy gurdies and music. Personally, I love that. It shows passion for music. Long live our tangents! I love the videos that both Brian and Joe shared. Let’s never be a community that hassles people for friendly tangents, agreed, fellas?

I can’t remember which developer produced the Hurdy Gurdy VST that I used to use on my old PC – it was a lite version so only had a very limited range of notes – but that worked to my advantage when the note for the tune I had written was too high for the lite version and it missed it out – it actually gave it a lovely syncopated feel which so much hurdy gurdy – and other folk music – has!
