I had the original -it eventually died and when I moved to York I gave it to someone who said he would fix it and sell it on but i don’t know if he ever did. Even broken it would probably be worth a bit today!

ELP were one of my introductions to rock / prog. As a teenager I had gotten into classical music after hearing Holst’s The Planets in a music lesson and around the same time Peter & The Wolf which made me realise that music alone could tell a story.
Other than that I was more into pop heavily influenced by my older sister – The Hollies, Marmalade…Read More

Appease who?
Am I correct in thinking what you’re saying is that you feel eg with Dolly Parton, a country artist, and the various hip hop artists being inducted is that these genres are clearly not rock — as Parton herself pointed out when she was nominated. Is that right? Basically, stick to rock, not country, hip hop, jazz, EDM, and other gen…Read More

Very cool. I like it. It has a very cool vibe to it. As we discussed in OPEN MIC, we share a lot of similar influences. I love The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division and other influences you mentioned. While I can hear those influences in your music, I think you and your band bring all of those influences together to create your own sound, which is…Read More

By coincidence I was listening to Melissa Etheridge for the first time for years and I had forgotten what an astounding artist she is so she would get my vote! New Order / Joy Division would be my second choice

Very cool. Just learning about the “PresetShare” site was worth the visit. 5 to 7 will make it in.
My picks:
- Jeff Buckley. 1 million percent. He was an incredible talent. And yes, I was a fan when he was alive and turned my wife on to his music shortly after we made, and he passed away less than a year later.
- Joy Division / New Order. They were incredibly influential. Even Billy Corgan claims them as his greatest…

Some of you are naming multiple bands. So I’m not complaining — I just want to join in!
While my top rock band would be The Beatles, here are my other rock bands I would love to reunite for one show (this is pure fantasy, so that includes members who have passed on):
Jeff Buckley – he and his band were perfection, but I’ll take any combination…Read More

Pink Floyd – I will forever regret not going to see them in Manchester (UK) and instead going to see Genesis in Leeds on their Invisible Touch tour. They were deadly dull and only played a short medley of their older stuff
Renaissance – I suppose they are the same genre (prog rock) but totally different sound and epic songs – sadly I think only…Read More

I guess it depends. If someone like OTS had a big sale I would be all over that. Likewise if it was an obscure instrument I had always been looking for I’d be in (“Oh wow! Look here’s a model of a 1966 Farfisa organ with a dead middle C note just like John Lennon once kicked over”). Otherwise… -
