Thanks, @MusicMan, that make a lot of sense. I’m dreading having to learn Studio One Pro 7 after spending decades with Sonar / Cakewalk By Bandlab. Even if Luna is awesome, it’s still another DAW to learn while I could be going deeper in understanding Studio One Pro 7.
One of the things about getting older — and not to get to heavy, but loss — is that time is valuable and finite. Not having to deal with another major learning curve is worth something.
Your friend who keeps the beat. I suppose I’m also the chef at this place.
Welcome Peter and for some reason I like learning a new DAW, but we’re all different! For recording, or mixing, most of them are really pretty straight forward. Add EQ, compression, effects, some busses if required. I normally find most of the compexity comes with advanced production and MIDI stuff. I used Harrison and really liked it for mixing and it took the sound in a slightly different direction than I may have in Cubase.
That’s the thing, they all kind of do the same thing, but some have their own sound/colour (due to their inbuilt effects, etc. They can all be made to sound the same when you disable those if possible) or workflow.
And sometimes that leads to inspiration, or discovering new things. So having a few options isn’t always a bad thing. I LOVE mixing in Cubase, so that will likely always be my main DAW for that for the foreseeable future.
Completely agreed on time and loss can definitely highlight that.
