Installed! This looks like something I can wrap my head around.
I have others in the same space such as Orange Tree, Real Guitar, ImpactSoundworks Shreddage I and II, all the Native Instruments Guitar Libs too. I just never felt really at ease with those tools (yet) and thus got blah results. I’m pretty sure it’s operator brain error.
I’ve been using samples to imitate the guitar on keys since the 80s — I had the original Steinberg Virtual Guitarist and RealGuitar. This seems to be very much like NI’s Session Guitar series, which is largely a loop player with guitar strums and a single note sample library in addition to that. I definitely agree that the loop based approach is easier, you just hold done the notes and the loop plays. I have told Greg — as I was pretty involved in the original creation of the line (kind of like a customer giving his ultimate wish list of features for a guitar sample library and Greg went FAR FAR beyond my expectations). What I’ve told him is that I think if Evolution had a ton of presets that were ready to go it would pretty much make the loop players like Session Guitarist or Artefakt unnecessary.
This seems very much like NI’s Session Guitarist line with loops more geared toward metal. I thought the individual notes sounded fake. Definitely not at the same level of Evolution or Ample Sound guitar libraries — in my opinion, the two most advanced and realistic virtual guitar choices on the market. The influencer doing the video mentioned 7th and 11th chords but made no mention of suspended or diminished chords. I think Session Guitarist sounds better than Aretfakt Guitar. When I’m too lazy to play a pattern (or my tendinitis is bothering me too much and I just want to keep moving), I will use Session Guitarist for rhythm patterns.
I kind of like Steinberg’s use of an old school arpeggiator style editor for strums. I think if I used this, I might use it for strumming and use Evolution for single notes. But I think NI’s Session Guitarist Electric Storm Deluxe is a superior choice for a heavy metal electric guitar loop based strum library / plugin. Although if you have $79 US to spare — as I’m sure that you do! — I could definitely see a case to get both (because they have different patterns). But I’m guessing that you already own Electric Storm Deluxe, @Bapu. Am I right?
