    @peter

I’m still refining things with the sentiment analysis that will be part of LinkedMusicians in the next several months. I own all of the Synthmaster synths and would recommend them, and I own more than half of the preset packs. I LOVE Synthmaster 3 and completely disagree with the criticism that it doesn’t have enough presets — in fact, I’d say that’s a ridiculous criticism as it ships with 900 factory presets and they are fantastic, IMO.  I know that @lamia6 bought it right when it came out like me, and she also loves it (we’ve discussed it a number of times). Here is the result of the sentiment analysis I ran for Synhtmaster 3. The sentiment analysis will provide LinkedMusicians members with the ability to quickly understand the praise and criticisms of the products and services they are researching, trying to minimize the impact of shilling and influencers and focus on regular paying customers and legitimate journalist reviews of products and services. Of course, I also want our community to weigh in with their own opinions too.

I’ll be sharing more about this in the future. I’m looking to release this functionality this summer. But I will be providing examples from time to time on products and services posted in the forum to show everyone how it works and to solicit your feedback so that I can refine things. Here is the sentiment analysis for Synthmaster 3:

The most common praises for SynthMaster 3 include:

    • Powerful layering capabilities: SynthMaster 3 now offers up to 16 layers per plugin instance, a significant upgrade from the previous dual-layer system12. This allows for creating massive, complex sounds and even full tracks within a single instance.
Modular architecture and flexibility: The new modular design provides unparalleled flexibility, allowing users to create intricate sounds without switching between multiple plugins. Each layer includes 16 modules, 32 modulation sources, and six insert effects.
    • Expanded sound design options: SynthMaster 3 introduces new oscillator types (granular and VAnalog), new filter types (phaser, formant, and comb), and enhanced effects including a waveshaper. This expands the creative possibilities for sound design.
    • Improved sequencing and modulation: Each layer now has separate arpeggiator/sequencer modules with per-step randomization, offering more advanced control and complex multi-layered compositions.
    • User-friendly interface: The synth is praised for its welcoming and easy-to-grasp interface, featuring three view modes (Tab, Track, and Mix) that provide clear visual feedback and intuitive workflow.
    • Vast sonic range: SynthMaster 3 excels at creating a wide variety of sounds, from in-your-face dance leads and basses to acoustic emulations, appealing to both electronic music producers and soundtrack composers.
    • Comprehensive feature set: Reviewers have noted that SynthMaster 3 offers an extensive range of features, making it difficult to outgrow the instrument.
    • Sound quality: The synth is praised for its excellent sound, which is described as “ridiculously simple” to achieve1.
These praises highlight SynthMaster 3’s versatility, power, and user-friendliness, positioning it as a comprehensive and capable synthesizer for a wide range of music production needs.

The most common criticisms of SynthMaster 3 include:

    1. User Interface Challenges
Complexity for Beginners: Many users find the interface overwhelming and difficult to navigate, especially for sound design. While it offers immense flexibility, the sheer number of options can be daunting for those who prefer simpler workflows25.
Clunky Workflow: Some users feel the UI is not as intuitive as it could be, requiring too much effort to achieve desired results24.
Preset Management Issues: Users have reported difficulties with loading presets, particularly when dealing with older expansions from SynthMaster.
    2. Stability and Performance Problems
Crashes: There are reports of the plugin crashing when playing through presets or working with older files, indicating stability issues that need to be addressed.
High CPU Usage: While powerful, SynthMaster 3 can be resource-intensive, potentially causing performance issues on less capable systems.
    3. Limited Presets
Some reviewers feel that the synth could benefit from more multilayered presets out of the box to fully showcase its capabilities.
    4. Sequencer Focus
A few critics argue that SynthMaster 3’s extensive sequencing features make it feel less like a traditional synthesizer and more like a hybrid tool, which may not appeal to purists looking for a straightforward synth experience.
    5. Upgrade and Compatibility Concerns
Users have expressed frustration with confusing upgrade paths and compatibility issues between desktop and iOS versions, particularly when transferring purchased expansions.
These criticisms highlight areas where SynthMaster 3 could improve, particularly in terms of user-friendliness, stability, and preset variety. However, many of these issues are subjective and depend on individual preferences and workflows.
