My call was that if our members wanted to post stuff from Karanyi, they can, but I will not, unless Karanyi rights the wrong with our member.  I would never put them in a league with developers that deliberately engage in unethical practices like Realitone (Mike Greene, owner of VI-Control), Andrew Aversa (Impact Soundworks), and Fluffy Audio, all of which, I have witnessed engage in undeniably unethical practices — and the Kontakt developer community is well aware of these developers’ bad practices. Those developers and their sales are not welcome here (no one would be penalized for posting their deals, but they may be taken down). My take is that Karanyi wrongly thought that our member was a hacker and refunded him of direct purchases and made him go to resellers to ask for refunds.

While I think that was not right, IMO, I think because Karanyi mistakenly believed Jorge to be a hacker and danger to their business, I don’t think that they were being deliberately malicious or deliberately unethical like those other developers that each have reputations in the developer community — as well as from customers with bad experiences — for bad practices.

Personally, I’ve stopped buying from Karanyi. I would reconsider that decision IF they were to restore Jorge’s account and apologize for their wrongful actions. But again, I think they acted out of wrongly seeing Jorge as a bad actor, not because Karanyi is delibertly unethical. Now, I’ve shared that I also take issue with Karanyi’s practices of inflating their prices to create the illusion of heavy discounting and also their practice of NOT REMOVING email subscribers who have used their link to unsubscribe — that includes me. I’ve never received a response from Karanyi.

So, that is what leads me to the approach that I will not post Karanyi’s sales, but our members can feel free to do so. Of course, any of us that want to warn others about Karanyi can feel free to post in the thread to do so. I would prefer that we don’t engage in being toxic towards a developer, but stick to the facts (e.g., Karanyi did this to Jorge, therefore, I don’t think they’re a developer that I want to do business with). All of that said, if ten (10) or more members post in this thread that they believe Karanyi’s actions are problematic enough that they want them banned from this community until they rectify the wrong done to our member, I will do it. I’m trying to be fair to our members and developers and leave room for people’s varying perspectives on this situation.
