Rosewood and Famous E, two absolute wonders.
Here’s hoping a Wurlitzer may be in the works too.
I’ve been trying to persuade Greg to do a Wurly since prior to his releasing Famous E! But I always say, “I’m interested in this not as a marketing strategist, but as a guy who is obsessed with the Wurly, so it’s not any kind of strategic advice based on my assessing the market, it’s based on my experience that you know how to create great innovative sample libraries and the fact that I’m obsessed with Wurys.” I did the same thing with the Vintage Violin Bass. It doesn’t have the same personal connection to me as Wurly — we didn’t own a Hofner bass when I was a kid. But I grew up as a huge McCartney fan and that tone is pure magic to my ears. But the Wurly, I would sneak into our family room late at night and put on headphones and play that thing — even at like 4 or 5 years old. I thought that the electric piano made the most beautiful, magical sounds.
I suppose I can’t share what Greg has told me about it, but I do know the answer to your question. Just know I was trying to persuade Greg to do the Hofner bass library for more than a decade before it came out! That’s why he asked me if I wanted to do a demo for it. He knew I was so obsessed with it, that I’d probably be able to write something very easily. I did. I wrote several songs and then I decided to show him a song I wrote when I was maybe 14 years old that I thought sounded very McCartney-ish, and that’s the one we used. It has a Wurly on it!
