Thanks all. My son is doing well. I’m just a little burned out from everything.

I had a meeting I was planning for today with 8Dio / SoundPaint around things we can do with LM that I need to reschedule. I’ll try for next week.

I realize that activity on the site is pretty low at the moment. I’m going to try to do things to get us to have more fun here. If you have suggestions — think of this place as ours, not as Peters. Think of it as a party that’s at my house and everyone gets to decide what the theme of the party is and what toppings they want on the pizza (hey, I’m open minded, but we’re definitely getting pizza!).

SOME QUICK IDEAS I’M WORKING ON:

• I really want to build content around quick tips, really practical ideas that we all share that others can quickly put to use around all relevant areas from audio production to performance tips like quick solo tips or tips on how to get more realistic acoustic drum performances when your playing on a keyboard or cool blues licks on the piano or organ that you can pick up in minutes (stuff I’ve been obsessed with since I was a kid).  Whether it’s a personal tip from us or one we found on Youtube or somewhere else. There’s a value in just pointing people to useful stuff, which is really the basis of what I do with the LM Best Kontakt Sample Libraries list. I’ve never created a sample library. I wouldn’t have the skills or patience to work with thousands or even hundreds of samples that need to be edited! But I can download and assess free sample libraries and point people towards the best ones so they don’t have to sift through the mediocre and poor ones like I did. I want us all to do the same things for other areas. We don’t have to invent the tips, we can curate the best ones. There’s an enormous amount of valuable content on the web, but sifting through all of it to only find the useful stuff is a lot of work, and when we work together, we can share the best of what we’ve found.
• I’m also trying to get us engaged beyond the Deals Forum in the ALL THINGS MUSIC FORUM where we can discuss anything. I’m going to be trying some fun questions for all of us to answer and welcome ideas. Of course, you can always just start your own thread. But if there are on-going columns/themes you’d like to see that it makes sense for me to manage, please share your suggestions!
