Forums › DEALS › Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals › ⚡ Produced By Mai SD3, AD2 Presets, Loops & 1 Shots – 50% Off Sale
I just bought some of this producer’s SD3 presets, currently on sale for 15 presets for 50% off — $7.50, regularly $15. He also has a bunch of presets for AD2, which I would have picked up, but he used a few kits that I don’t own (the website copy said that it would still work fine with the same effects, but I thought I’d go with the SD3 presets, as they use the core sample library). I received an email earlier today with an offer for an additional 25% off with the code GRAMMY25 and couldn’t resist. The email states that it expires tonight (but you never know, devs regularly send those time-limited offers out and then keep it going for longer; this is my first purchase from this developer, so I don’t know. But I think the final price was something like $5.73 for 15 presets and they sound really good — so I’m very happy with that deal and can recommend it if you’re looking for a very cool, R&B, hip hop sounding set of presets.

This is the specific preset pack that I bought tonight and can recommend. I sent Mai a note telling him about LinkedMusicians and I told him that if I liked his presets, I’d write a post about it. Since I do like the presets, I’m making this post about the sale, as promised.

I was enjoying these presests so much, that I wanted to share how good they sounded. This is the pre-chorus and chorus of a song I wrote in the late 90s when I was working with an amazing gospel soloist on a band doing updated, kind of neo-soul covers of R&B classics and rock songs re-arranged in an R&B style (I was the arranger for everything). But I wrote some originals, greatly inspired by the singer’s incredible voice. I’ve contemplated whether or not to attempt to record those songs — some of which are pretty good — because I can’t even pretend to sing them. This was really sloppy, just me quickly playing the drum, bass, guitar, electric piano, and organ parts for the pre-chorus and chorus. Everything was a quick first take, but I stil think it sounds pretty cool and gives you a chance to hear one of this developer’s presets for Superior Drummer.
And no, I did not receive any NFRs from this developer. I paid like everyone else. I just want to shine a spotlight on indie developers whose work I really enjoy and want others to know about. I paid $5.73 for 15 presets from this developer. They sound great and I find that they’re a fantastic value compared to buying another SDX or EZX.
Note: Don’t blame the developer for my completely neglecting to pay attention to when things started to clip. I completely forgot, as I played this in a total of several minutes, recording each track once, this morning.

In case anyone is interested, I used the following sample libraries on that little jam:
Orange Tree Samples Evolution Jazz Guitar
Orange Tree Samples Evolution Flatwound Bass
UJAM Vibe Electric Piano
IK Multimedia Hammond B3X
Superior Drummer 3 with the a MAI preset
I didn’t use any external effects, just factory presets, with the exception of using the MAI preset for Superior Drummer.
