NOTE: Ignore the fact that it’s named after a popular air freshener brand, this is a really nice freebie that runs on the free Kontakt Player. I think it’s a no-brainer freebie. Get it!

      The Unearthed Orchestra
A complete cinematic writing instrument for Kontakt Player.
      Available at no cost.

Glade is a fully featured, professionally recorded instrument available free of charge to composers who want to start writing music today. It fuses world color with symphonic craft into a playable toolkit for expression.

Use macros to sculpt color and contour, then drop into the instrument patches when you need precise articulation. Layer strings, winds, voices, and organic percussion to discover new harmonies and timbres.

It is lightweight to load, mix ready out of the box, and works in the free Kontakt Player. Glade moves sketches to finished ideas in minutes and feels at home in film cues, trailers, games, pop toplines, and electronic soundscapes.

Traditional when you need it, adventurous when you want it.

I just wanted to update this thread as I have installed the library and have been going through it for only a few minutes and this is a really wonderful freebie. It’s easily going to make LinkedMusicians list of Best Free Kontakt Sample Libraries. I would easily call it one of the best free sample libraries available. I have only started going through it and it’s really impressive. The caveat is that they’ve restricted the ranges to a couple of octaves for numerous libraries / patches in this collection, but I still find it highly usable.

I strongly recommend that EVERYONE download this free. It uses the free Kontakt Player, so you don’t need to own Kontakt to use it. For a hobbyist like me, this is a fantastic collection of beautiful sample libraries.

If Audio Imperia wasn’t on your list of top Kontakt developers before, this free sample library will change that. I have only gone through less than a third of the included patches and I can say with confidence that this will easily get the highest rating for our list of best / recommended free Kontakt sample libraries. They could have only included a couple of patches and it would have gotten the highest rating. They’re that good.

I just spent about a half hour with Glade and it is stellar.  There is a LOT in there for a freebie.  You get two versions: Glade at 4.4 Gigs and Glade Studio at 12.5 Gigs.  Studio has multi mic positions.  As Peter said- don’t pass this up.

Had a play through the presets on this this afternoon – totally agree Peter – it is stunning – up there with Project Sam Free Orchestra 1 – well worthy of its place in top libraries!

@bluescat I knew of Audio Imperia for a long time, but I never had one of their libraries beyond an April Fool’s library. Glade was an eye opener for me that showed me how talented this developer is. I can say that after getting it, Audio Imperia is now on my radar and I will be following them and posting their deals. I think — I’m not sure — that you’re more into making cinematic style music than me. Were you already aware of how good this developer is before they released Glade?

I bought their “Solo” library a few years ago, which is very good.  Later added a couple more, but since I got Musio Complete I have not looked at any other orchestral sample-only libraries.  I still look as new offerings from EastWest and Sonuscore because of their MIDI generators and pre-set ensemble features, which I think set them apart from their competitors.  I will be shocked if Audio Imperia doesn’t come out with an expanded paid version of Glade, and I will certainly give that a look, if it happens.  They clearly put a lot of $$ into Glade development.

I completely agree with you. As far as Musio, personally, as someone — due to tendinitis — who can barely finish playing a single simple rock song without pain stopping me from playing, it’s not realistic for me to attempt classical or serious orchestral music. I just want to use some orchestral background to add to rock songs or simple piano songs that I wrote ages ago, Musio more than does the job and freebies like Glade (okay, I still can’t say that without thinking of the air freshener). Years ago, I even came up with a plan for Kirk Hunter to come out with a Kontakt Player library based on very dry string samples to go after a very Eleanor Rigby type sound with Pop / Rock Strings. But it was Spitfire’s Abbey Road 2 Iconic Strings is pretty much my dream sample library (except for the lousy Spitfire Player that’s grossly inferior to Kontakt, if I’m going to be really candid — and that is my preferred style). Then add Musio’s strings, and I’m super well covered. But playing the free Glade, I was really impressed by how great that free sample library is and the detail they offer — multiple mics you can mix???

I suppose the depths of Glade made me even more disappointed with Spitfire’s new Discover library’s limitations like their two-octave piano. As a marketing strategist, I think that was a big mistake. I think Glade will end up exposing Audio Imperia to a much larger audience. And it’s good, ethical marketing — make a great free version of your work that makes music producers more aware of you by experiencing your work first hand and being delighted by it. That’s how you do it. Kudos to Audio Imperial. They nailed this. I am cheering for them to succeed. I love great indie developers and these guys are clearly great at what they do.
