I’m pretty sure that you’re correct, Erik, the serial is for T-RackS5. I already have Tape Echo in T-RackS6 Max, so I’m not completely sure.

If anyone knows the answer for certain please weigh in.

I think you might be right. I didn’t get a new version of it in IK Product Manager.

I have T-Racks 5, so would have thought that a new version would be available if new.

I had it wrong, the serial DOES unlock the T-RackS 6 version.

To get it to work I had to click on the “Buy” button in the plug-in UI, log in at IK Multimedia, then hit refresh in IK Product Manager.

Gotta love IK Multimedia….

I had TS Max 4 installed and upgraded to TS Max 5.  Bear with me- That upgraded my T-Racks 5 to T-Racks 6.  All my T-Racks 5 stuff is still named TR5-xxxxx.vst and only the new stuff for T-Racks 6 (I think ten maybe?) are named TR6-xxxxx.VST  They all work fine.  I assumed the naming was to keep the installer happy.  Are you sure there is any difference?  I actually deleted all the TR5 VSTs back before I installed TR6 and all the pre-TR6 versions still came back as TR-5xxxxx.

<edit>  More importantly I suspect, for back compatibility, the naming was kept.  I would have to fix a lot of errors in past projects if it changed them.

Drat, I had a detailed reply typed out that listed all the differences between T-RackS 5 plug-ins and T-RackS 6 versions. The forum ate it. So here it is again:

There are multiple changes to the v6 versions.

The file naming and structure of the VST3’s is different. v6 uses the newer way where there’s a folder named Tape Echo v6.vst3. v5 just has single DLL files with the .vst3 extension.

The names are reported differently in DAW’s. v5’s naming is “TR5 Tape Echo” and v6’s is simply “Tape Echo.”

The logos/branding are different, the v6 ones don’t actually say “T-RackS” on the face of the UI. The v6 ones have no bottom toolbar, those functions have been moved to the hamburger menu at top right.

The v6 dynamics processors have a button at the top that enables an external sidechain input.

All I can think of off the top of my head….
