This new release in the ‘auras’ project was born from the Soma Terra, an esoteric synthesizer designed from wood and touch-sensitive pads to create shifting textures and performances. Lichen provides a unique palette of organic, evolving textures and deep, breathing pads to enrich your compositions or add a layer of detailed, synthetic warmth. This instrument is built on dual-layer, user-selectable sound sources, each captured to evoke the character of the Terra’s unpredictable core and experimental sound.

 

The basis of Lichen is a dual-layer setup that lets you blend any two sources to sculpt complex, moving soundscapes. Since the Soma Terra is too unique and volatile for traditional multisampling, every note you hear was captured as an individual, nuanced performance sampled one by one to preserve the instrument’s authentic response and unique pitch/timbral drift. With the latest version of Decent Sampler, you can now choose your sources to experiment or design new patches on the fly with the ‘Source Select’ knobs.
