      @peter

      It’s challenging to get people to take the time to listen to your music. The web is overflowing with people posting their music hoping for others to give it a listen — and the reality is, most music posted on the web — including in forums and the big social media platform groups — is largely ignored. Even major artists that have hits from long ago can find it challenging to persuade people to listen to their latest music. Here are some tips for getting your music listened to at our forum.

        1. Don’t Be Self-Centered.
          Don’t Come, Post Your Music, and Leave. Establish Yourself as a Part of the Song-Sharing Community. Give Feedback on Two Other Members’ Tracks Before Posting Your Own Tracks.
          Make yourself known to the community. If you listen and provide valuable, positive feedback and encouragement to others, more people will check out your music. Cultivating listeners in a song-sharing community takes time, and is easily the most challenging community to grow, but if you want your music heard, there are no shortcuts. On the other hand, coming to this forum only to post your music and leave creates a vibe similar to that of a spammer. It’s like a person you meet at a party who only talks about themselves and shows zero interest in others. Don’t be that person. It builds no credibility with the community.
        2. Keep an Open Mind and Accept Criticism.
          Even if you have incredible chops or a great voice, there will still be people who simply aren’t into your music, or maybe they like what you’re doing, but want to share with you how they think you can make improvements. Hear them out. You may agree with some advice and disagree with others; criticism isn’t always easy to accept. But listening and learning from advice can lead to growth as an artist and human being.

        4. Don’t Give Up If You’ve Posted Music and Haven’t Had Feedback.
          Our community is fairly new and you may not have established yourself yet. Start on that path today and watch the feedback you receive on your music increase.
