There’s some definite overlap between Kontakt and Soundbox items. Also with Vital, but since Vital (as far as I know) doesn’t use samples, it might be that the items that overlap in name might be different compared to Kontakt/Soundbox.

Fair point, the page with the bundle itself definitely doesn’t list everything so it is unclear.

I took a chance and bought it, whilst I haven’t gone through the download list methodically, it appears to be everything that is for sale on the site (as per Kirean’s list above).

[FTR, for anyone who is wondering why I deleted my posts referencing how some folks who receive free products in exchange for posting about this developer’s sample libraries were hyping them and not disclosing that they receive them free for doing so, I thought it was better to delete them. I don’t always feel the developers are completely at fault when you see these practices. Many times, developers give frequent forum posters — and influencers — free product in exchange for getting their products attention, which is A LOT cheaper than paid advertising and it appears more credible than paid advertising when a known community members is talking up products.

Now, the people doing this have both posted at this forum — and while what they did is a violation of the rules at the forum they posted on, just as it is here — they have both known not to hype products they get free in exchange for posting or doing videos for at LinkedMusicians, because that’s not tolerated here. Again though, I didn’t intend to pin that on the developer.  Often, frequent deal posters who get free products will be overly enthusiastic. What  I had told the frequent deal poster when he posted here was that he should never talk up developers of products he’s received free, and he should be disclosing when he’s received free products from a developer. I’ve disclosed when I’ve received NFRs from developers — but historically, when I’ve given developers advice without charging, they will offer NFRs as a thank you. I’ve mostly turned them down, because I want to maintain the ability to share my honest opinions without developers feeling that I owe them something. But people who post frequently get free product in exchange for posting — as is the case here — that should be disclosed. Full stop. However, I don’t blame small developers for incentivizing frequent deal posters with free products. I just believe — and US regulations and most countries’ laws agree — that they need to be transparent when they post — especially if they’re hyping up the products, as was being done in this case.]

So, I was DMing with @andrewfly tonight — we’ve gotten to be friendly since he joined LM last year. I shared my opinion that 6 hours was far too short for a promotion in this industry and tried to persuade him to consider extending this deal.

We — like other communities — have members that don’t even visit every day that easily won’t see this deal until tomorrow, long after it’s over. Andrew told me that he’s going to consider my feedback and that he did hear similar feedback before our chat and wanted to discuss this tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Did you buy the deal or did you think about it and end up not buying?  Do you guys agree with me that 6 hours for a deal isn’t enough time?

I’d love to get your feedback and discuss it with Andrew tomorrow (okay, technically today, as it’s 1:05 PM CST where I’m at).

I agree with your view on time limited deals, I was lucky enough to be able to purchase it but I imagine there were people in the world that missed out because they were sleeping or at work.

Since I’ve already been oversharing, when I proposed this to Andrew, his first concern was that customers who bought the deal might be disappointed if he were to bring the sale back on to give people more time. I asked him, “Did you have feedback from anyone who told you that they were disappointed because the deal was over by the time they learned about it?.” He said that he had.

Here’s my take — and anyone — as always, don’t hesitate to post if you feel strongly about this, whether you agree or disagree as long as were respectful to one another, diverse views are welcomed here.

Our visitors averaged 8 visits over the last 7 days. But some people visit once a week, some visit more than a dozen times. The same can be said about other forum community members. I don’t think the advice he received for a 6 hr sale was good advice. So, I recommended that he consider re-running this sale to give people more time. That the only time I would ever do a 1 day sale is if you’ve done a lot of pre-sale promotion / advertising. As he’s a small indie developer, of course, there’s no budget for that. So I recommended he give people an entire weekend, and if he can, re-start this one ASAP and if he starts it tomorrow evening, run it until the end of day Monday.

I don’t think any sane, well-balanced person who bought during the sale is going to be angry or ticked that they got a fantastic deal for a sale that they know was way too short. This isn’t some big corporation doing this; it’s a small indie developer doing his best to juggle a lot of responsibilities who was advised that a 6 hour sale would likely get a lot of attention. As a marketing professional, I don’t think that was good advice, and I feel confident that his sales would have been significantly higher had the sale been all weekend. That is, I don’t think making it 6 hours and not having an ad budget to promote that heavily is a formula for success (my peers in the marketing world would be 100 percent in agreement, FTR).  So, I shared that advice. But right now, I want to know what all of you think.

Personally I’d be happy to hear that other people who may have missed out got another opportunity to purchase.

I think the only scenario I’d be unhappy is if there was another flash sale a week later where the price was even cheaper, I’d find that annoying.

@FineAlley Thanks for sharing that. It makes perfect sense to me that you feel that way. We all pretty much get bummed when we buy something only to see it go on a sale for less a short time later.

I actually proposed to a developer I did some paid consulting to that instead of having a a no sale policy to instead have sales and a 30 or 60 day gurantee that anyone who made a purchase only to find the product on sale for less in 30 or 60 days would see a refund or credit for the difference. Because it’s not that people don’t like sales; they don’t like the feeling of buying something and soon seeing it on sale for less a short time later. In the case of Cinematic Alpha, I don’t think those who bought in the 6-hour period would be upset if people were given more time with the sale repeated — they would only be disappointed if that sale was a better deal than the one they received.

How about “The Cinematic Alpha Second Chance” sale? I want to give him a catchy name idea. He is concerned that if he does this, some who bought during the original deal might get upset or think this was all pre-planned. But as your reaction conveyed — as long as he doesn’t have a lower price, I think that 80% of them will get it. IMO, with a small, indie developer, we can’t treat them like they’re Microsoft. These are usually musicians themselves — Andrew is also a film composer. I’ve gotten to know a lot of small indie developers and made some real friends in the process. Most of these small devs are really nice people that are passionate about music (a small handful of them are SOBs. I’ll be publishing “the list” later! I kid, I kid). I know that we can all related to that.

If it’s a ‘limited type deal’ in normal circumstances I really do not mind if other people get in on it after.

Thus, the only time I feel like it becomes an actual issue is that if there is an exceptional time limited deal, and it comes back soon-ish for even a better deal “too soon.”

Generally I really dislike FOMO-tactics.

Buying Musio during the end of the year holiday period really stung, when few months later it could be had for an even deeper discount (while there is no amount of days that are set in stone, it would have sucked less if it had been… say 6 months later.)

Other recent example is the Kirk Hunter stuff that was said to be on sale “deepest sale for the last time ever” and few months later, there have been deals for even lower.

But in general. I do not mind if other people get to use the same deals I got to use. I’m also not a fan of super time limited deals, and would hope that any exceptional deal would be up for a at least a day or two (missed out on a few Spitfire ones that I was interested in because of a really short window.)

Then there’s also the factor that if I’ve seen a product to have certain kind of deal, I will wait for that deal or a better one. Anything less gets ignored as ‘paying for more’ makes me feel like a schmuck (unless I actually, truly, need it.)

I snagged the deal and would not be at all unhappy if they ran it again.  I still have not had time to load anything to listen to, but I did download everything EXCEPT the SoundBox stuff last night for a total of 77 Gigs.  I really don’t like the Soundbox app.  I will give SB another try to see if the July update improved it, but it is the UI that irritates me, so I doubt it.
