The developer behind Glitchedtones just sent an email. And I’d ask everyone to consider their humanity and empathy when reading his message. I’ve known and helped — dozens of indie, one to three person developers — some who had expressed great anxiety and concern about being able to survive in the industry.  It can be a very difficult for a small, indie developer to navigate between figuring out what products to make to sustain a living, and find the right balance between being a creative person and a business person. I think this message is genuine. I realize cynics may mock it (but let’s not do that at LM, that’s not what this community is about, let’s lead with empathy). Alright, here’s the deal.

I’ve spent the last year pouring everything into this – ridiculous hours, obsessing over quality, trying to stand out in a market that’s been completely flooded with low-effort, samey content pushed by marketing teams with bigger budgets than passion.

And honestly? I’m done playing that game just to scrape by.

 

The race to the bottom has won. AI-generated packs are everywhere, everyone’s chasing trends instead of making something that actually matters, and I can’t keep burning myself out trying to compete with that.

 

But Glitchedtones isn’t going anywhere. I’m still making sounds I actually care about, new releases will still come, the store stays open – I’m just not working ridiculous hours over it anymore. I need to get a regular job and do this on my own terms.

 

So from right now until Monday night, I’m running a massive sale:

This runs until end of day Sunday (12th January), then prices go back to normal.
