The feedback we’ve received on the forum post editor has been extremely positive. But today, I received some feedback from a forum member who felt overwhelmed by the editor having so many choices. I created it for power users, and candidly, until today’s feedback, I’ve never heard from anyone who felt overwhelmed by the editor, but I suspect that his feelings are shared by others and, consequently, I decided to pull back some of the functions to try to better understand the community’s preferences. FTR, it’s very easy to add or take away the functionality of the editor, so if you really liked a feature that I took out, please let me know below in the comments and I can easily add it back in.

But I wanted to do a trial run with a scaled back version and see what the community thinks. Please let me hear your voice on this. I want this site to be easy and enjoyable for everyone to use.

FTR, I’m starting to add back functionality. I’ve also received a message from someone who preferred having more functionality. I’m going to add back most of what we had.

If anyone here is a researcher, you realize that these little polls don’t have true statistical validity. But I do find them useful to understand how the group feels about things. My desire is always going to be to try to better understand everyone’s thoughts on these things and try to find a solution that best meets all of our needs, realizing that nothing is going to please everyone perfectly.

I’ve added much of the functionality back, not all. If anyone misses any specific functionality, just comment below. It’s easy to add things back. But I want to add what people use and keep it as simple and uncluttered as possible.
