This may kill my rocker cred, but back around John Mayer’s second album, I took my wife to see him.

I was blown away that a guy doing pop, lite rock (as Bill Murray famously called it), was such an excellent guitarist. Having been a fan of the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn (yes, you can love classical music, Chopin, Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Dave Brubeck Quartet, Bob Marley, Yes, Genesis, Al Greene, Jeff Buckley, Madison Cunningham, EWF, Nick Drake, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jeff Beck and Billy Ellish, Coldplay, and John Mayer’s music and playing).
