(Site is being hammered).
Upgrades are now cheaper the more recent package you’ve got apparently.
Not to be a Debbie Downer but the question is: how long will you actually get to enjoy the latest update?
@kirean Wait, I own and love NI Komplete 15 Ultimate, which I bought last year. Have there been 11 version updates since last summer that I missed?
All joking aside regarding the branding scramble, I want to be very clear: I love NI Komplete Ultimate. I use Kontakt in virtually every project and have had nothing but great experiences with NI, using Kontakt since its early days. I give NI Komplete two thumbs up, and no one wants to see them succeed with zero layoffs more than me.
Even more, as an NI affiliate partner, the “marketer” in me should be pushing for the conversion to see as many sales as possible. But all of that doesn’t negate the objective business reality of insolvency.
True advocacy means giving you the honest risk assessment that influencers and 99.9% of affiliates won’t talk about—frankly, because it kills conversions. While I want NI to succeed, I have to prioritize my fellow creators. I care about the trust this community puts in me, and I’m not willing to trade that for a commission. That’s why I have to make sure you’re aware of the high degree of risk NI purchases entail at this moment.
My heart is truly with the people behind the tools. I actually have a technical support request in with NI right now, and I’ve shared with their support team that I am rooting for them. Even within our own LinkedMusicians community, we have NI senior software engineers who joined because they value the depth of our analysis. They know this comes from a place of respect for the craft.
However, the best advice I can give you is that now is a risky time to make this purchase. We’re likely very close to an announcement, and I hope it’s great news for those of us—including me—who love these products. I’d recommend being patient, unless you can accept the risk that a new buyer might take the company in a very different direction. The undeniable truth is, all of those possibilities are on the table right now.

I must ad some to… look at komplete select – they remove Massive X full and replace it with player…. if it they do this backwards.. this is super bad… if you look at now standart, ultimate, collectors edition…. many libraries are now in higher tier, than before…. prize goes up to…. be very careful with any purchase from ni.. cheap things maybe oki but bigger investment is no good idea for now….
good night…
I wonder if we’ll be seeing the 50% off on Komplete anymore, now that they’re clearly on a yearly schedule now as per the new naming convention.

I just made a comment about that in another thread. My instincts tell me yes, that inMusic will have NI continue their Summer of Sound sale because it’s a very dependable source of getting customers to pull out their credit cards for a big purchase every year and it’s basically the next best thing for a company selling software to subscription revenue. I’d give it a 75% probability.

I’d put the probability of a Summer of Sound sale at at least 75%.
I’d put the probability of Komplete being included at 0%.
The last time Komplete had a release outside of September/October was in 2013 and I recall that Komplete was not part of that sale.
There’s no way they are going to announce a half off sale one or two months after releasing a product. Nobody does that because that generates a lot of ill will and disincentivizes customers from purchasing at release.
The SOS sale will most likely have discounts on upgrades to individual programs and content, as well as potential mini-bundles (Abbey Roads Drums, Scenes series, etc).
With a yearly new Update, I think maybe a 25 – 30 % sale during Black Friday sales?

I would bet on that too

It just struck me. On May 5th I recommended people pause before making this purchase, stating that “we’re likely very close to an announcement.” FTR, I did have a contact who told me that the new buyer is likely inMusic. But it was primarily because I new about the German government’s 90 guarantee for labor had just passed. So that track record should give me a boost for my 75% probability of a Summer of Sound Sale! 😉
Once we move over to the subreddit — I’m thinking I’ll keep the forum open for as long as the end of the month and then we’ll exclusively have our community there for social media and still keep all of the RESOURCES available at this site — basically everything but the forums and OPEN MIC will remain available. If you’ve been enjoying the research tools, the magazines, the songwriting tools, the Mixtapes or other content, it will remain here and be regularly updated.
As Reddit’s survey / poll tools are far superior to what we’re presently using here, I’m definitely going to use them when it makes sense, and I’m certain that they’ll provide useful information for our communitiyi.

One thing I noticed – previous
Upgrades are now cheaper the more recent package you’ve got apparently.
Previously that wasn’t true unless you had an ancient version. Which was nice because I could skip every other version# release and it seemed to make CE more affordable.
Now because I skipped CE15 my price for upgrading from CE14 would be costing an extra $100 ($499).
I’m going to see if BF drops the price significantly, but may still opt out.
@thesteven Based on inMusic’s long history of deep discounting, I feel very confident that we’ll find bigger discounts in the future. As a marketing strategist, I don’t think the outrageously deep discounts in this industry are good for brands. They devalue them. When a developer puts a product that once sold for $600 on sale for $69, the lowest price becomes the product’s perceived value. InMusic deep discounts at levels far deeper than what NI has done. Consequently, I expect that NI will discount at least at the level they had been doing prior to the acquisition, and more likely, at even deeper levels.
