I know, you may be shaking your head thinking, shameless! And it’s absolutely true. But the merchandise is one of the ways I’m attempting to raise funds to help with the costs of operating LinkedMusicians. We’ll be rolling out a contribute button later this month, as a number of members have suggested, but I was — and am — excited by the idea of LinkedMusicians merch.

I love the LinkedMusicians community. My heart is warmed inside when I see people sharing their passion for music making, being helpful and kind to others, and spreading encouragement — even if it is expressed in sharing a deal or telling others about their positive or negative experiences with a sample library, plugin, or company. It’s meaningful because people are doing it to help others. This isn’t a community of influencers looking to make a profit off of the trust they’ve earned. I’m certainly not making money off of this site, but spending a lot of it. I’m motivated by the kindness of others. I love when I see us have conversations that are friendly and considerate without people engaging in sniping or mean-spiritedness when they have different opinions. I love when we share knowledge when people help others out  just because they enjoy helping others. I’ve had a lot of help from people like @lamia6, @doug, @bluescat, @joegbradford and others who have volunteered their time and knowledge simply out of kindness. I love that. I’ll share this. For more than a decade, I’ve had a Facebook Group that is called Kindness merely focused on sharing stories about the importance of kindness and inspirational acts of kindness. Kindness is a giant deal in my book. I am grateful for everyone of you.

So yes, you can feel free to have a laugh at me promoting merchandise to raise money — I wrote the copy specifically to make you smile. I didn’t see a point in being too serious. I think it should be fun. In fact, I have to spend some time writing the copy for the items in the store (I just kept Printify’s default descriptions as is, as I was trying to get the store to be ready as quickly as I could). Also, we still haven’t settled on a name for the Official LinkedMusicians bear, so feel free to keep making suggestions.
