LinkedMusicians Is Now Nearing Page 1 of Google Results for Relevant Searches

LinkedMusicians is now nearing the first page of Google for searches on free Kontakt sample libraries / instruments. That’s not the result of any SEO tricks. But it is very deliberate.

Google looks at a large number of factors in determining how web pages rank. Getting a site less than 2 years old with no advertising budget — let alone a passion project — to be competitive with sites from software companies worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and legacy forums that have been around for decades isn’t something easily pulled off.

So, how have we done it? It’s really not tricks. But it was planned. It was strategic. The foundation was created by building the best, most extensive, curated list of free sample libraries that exists. I spent time with every sample library on that list and give a brief commentary on each library. That took a long time to do and no one else has spent that kind of time and energy, because frankly, it doesn’t make me or anyone else any money. Instead, if you look at the other lists — they’re almost all either really small and/or really all over the board. They include old very low quality sample libraries and decent ones. It’s very clear that 99% of the top 50 results are from companies and solopreneurs that are really only making those pages for SEO reasons. I wasn’t. My motivation was first, to create something really valuable to those who can’t afford paid versions of similar libraries, and for those who simply love picking up great free sample libraries.

And by being different, it caught on. People have shared it many times in social media and on the legacy forums.
