NOTE: While I’m no fan of software subscriptions in general, as a consumer (I’m okay with them for my business, and my company, a SaaS, has a lot of them;  I am good with the model used by Loopcloud and some other loop services. Whereas with the BandLab model, your DAW no longer functions fully if you stop your subscription, PreSonus lets you keep your DAW fully functioning at the last version under your subscription — that’s completely fair, IMO. While Loopclooud let’s you keep any loops you purchased during your subscription period if you cancel your subscription, you just can’t access new loops. I think that’s very straightforward and fair. I think for loops, the subscription model makes a lot of sense because of how prolifically people who use loops tend to need new ones. I think the subscription model is less of a great fit for sample libraries, DAWs or effects where the reality is, you can use a piano or drum library forever, for every song and play different beats, different fills, etc. Of course, like most of us, I’m in love with sounds and keep acquiring new drum and piano libraries! However, as it’s not tied to someone else’s performance, unlike loops, each sample library provides me with endless possibilities.
