Nagual transforms Pre-Hispanic ceremonial instruments into a breathing polyphonic instrument. Collaborating with Ramiro Ramírez, one of Mexico’s most revered musicians in these traditions, we recorded rare clay water flutes, conch shell trumpets, wooden slit drums, ocarinas, ceremonial horns, and ritual whistles—sources used in Mesoamerican ritual contexts.

These sources—many limited to single tones—are transmuted into a reactive polyphonic instrument where clay merges with conch, wood fuses with breath, and everything responds to velocity, touch, and performance gestures—rare ancient sources, made performable.
