Quoted Text in Replies [RESOLVED]

Just finished looking at the Blue Cat deals post and noticed that there is no difference between quoted text and the response. Both Blacque Jacque’s and peter’s response quoted bapu’s Installed! but there was nothing to distinguish bapu’s reponse from the reply. Can the quoted text be automatically offset or italicized or somthing?

This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Disappointing and, as of now, I have no fix for that. I’ll keep on the lookout to see if there’s any way to fix that. As I mentioned elsewhere, that’s one of the surprising things I found about this forum platform is that a lot of functionality you would think would be built in isn’t. So quotes and some other basic functionality is through a plugin I had to add on and, in this case, it was open source, so there’s no support on it, unlike the theme and plugins I’ve purchased. I realize that might appear to be a TMI post, but I just want to be transparent about the areas where I’ve made some compromises to keep this project within my budget.

@peter It looks great! I truly appreciate all the hard work you are doing to get this all working and to find solutions when plugins don’t work together. I get really excited when I see something working that did not work last time I checked. And sad faced when something breaks when something else is fixed. I think, oh no, poor @peter. Will he get any sleep tonight? Pass on my appreciation to your family as well. I am sure they are wondering what has happened to you.

Thanks much, Doug. I am trying and I think the forums are pretty good right now, so I think I’m going to announce that we’re good with functionality improvements for now and just focus on making sure that everything stays working properly — which it is right now.

Right now, I’m working on some issues on the GROUPS end of things, and one I get those resolved, I think we’re good with the existing functionality of the site for at least for version one. Once everything is working smoothly, while people can say, “This other forum I use works this way and I like that!” The reality is, that’s related to the platform they’re using, but this forum still has the main functions, it just may do them differently. But I know this, the “Forums” in this industry don’t have the abilities that this site has. They’re just old school legacy forums — like LM Forums. But LinkedMusician Forums integrate with its social media Groups and messaging. It allows users to follow friends and do things that are simply not possible at Cakewalk Forums, VI-Control, KVR, Gearspace, etc. Hopefully, as the site moves beyond the infancy stage and issues are resolved, our community will see the value of the site. But of course, that’s only going to come when we use the site a lot more for its intended purposes.

With that in mind, I created a thread that IS along the lines of getting us to the real value of this site / community and I tagged you. It’s a thread asking people 7 questions (okay, really 8, but I wanted it to be a little fun and made the 8th one a bonus question). Do me a favor and join in! Thanks again for your message.
