Somerville Sounds: Soft Drums Lite FREE!!!

NOTE: I have an early prototype version of Soft Drums and I really like it. My only criticism is that I don’t like the mapping.

2020
The Original Prototype
The first Soft Drums launched on January 13, 2020, made with more ambition than know-how.

I was figuring out my process and spent hours creating a stop-motion tutorial, even though the library required Kontakt and had no GUI.

Fun fact: The drum samples were muted using baby spit-up towels—not exactly glamorous, but it worked!

Without Soft Drums’ surprising success—along with Flute+Violin—I might never have continued making sample libraries.

2023
Revamped & Reimagined for Kontakt Player
In 2023, I teamed up with drummer extraordinaire Joel Cameron to take Soft Drums to the next level.

We added multiple drums, mic positions, and a polished GUI, creating something truly special.

Its balanced dynamics and attack made it perfect for Americana and singer-songwriter music, two styles close to my heart.

Soft Drums Lite: A New Prototype
Soft Drums Lite is a nod to the original, using the same samples but with added functionality like Filter, Saturation, Room Reverb, and Slam Control.

It’s not as detailed as the full version, but it’s a simple and flexible powerhouse for creative drum sounds.
