        @peter

        For anyone who didn’t watch, it was an April Fools Day prank and I thought it was amusing.

            Agreed. I sampled my cat for a cover of “All You Need Is Love” I did with my entire family. But I never thought about importing my cat’s vocal into SoundPaint — until I watched that video!

              It wasn’t until the demo of cat mode that I realised it was an April Fool – it was still 31 March here in the UK so I wasn’t ready for it! I thought Troels had lost his mind!

                I know that there were some developer’s April Fools Day pranks that one of the groups I’m in that keeps up with the latest sales from various developers had people posting the pranks on April 2nd not realizing they weren’t serious.

                I still think that Greg Schlaepfer and I came up with a really good one maybe a decade ago with Orange Tree Samples Emotional Cowbell (or maybe it was Epic Cowbell) and Troels was actually the inspiration. I was watching one of his 8Dio videos for some library called Emotional Strings or something emotional and I wrote down an idea for an April Fools Day prank to come up with the Emotional part for an instrument no one could ever imagine as emotional — so I immediately thought cowbell (I actually still own a few cowbells from my semi–pro playing days). Then I thought to add to it, we should play into the deep sampling, with something like 37 velocity layers (which makes no sense, but that was part of the ridiculousness), which made in into something like a 2.5 TB library. Of course, everything was just a play on extensively sampled and over the top promoted sample libraries. Greg did a video and web page for it. We had a blast.

                But sure enough, just as indie sample developers constantly rip each other off, another sample developer did the same April Fools Day joke and stole most of the ideas a few years later. Then another developer actually released a detailed cowbell sample library called something like Epic Cowbell. I strongly suspect it was not a big seller.
