Spectrasonics updated Omnisphere 3 a few months ago. My upgrade price is $199 and it includes
Arturia updated Pigments. For comparison:
When looking at this comparison analytically, the Omnisphere deal looks much better. On the other hand it feels much easier buying the 5 _Explorations packs than buying the Omnisphere upgrade. The “free updates” on Arturia’s side builds up “goodwill” that encourages buying, and then the psychological barrier of “I’m just buying a few $19.99 and $29.99 sound banks” is noticeably lower than spending $199.
Arturia is putting to good use “the Netflix strategy”
