That’s a very sweet deal.

To give you an idea of the costs of operating the site, it cost over $2,000 US to get set up with everything we have. We spend more than $100 per month with hosting and software subscriptions / maintenance contracts, security, design plugin — even the reactions on the forum and social media groups cost around $80 a year in subscription/service contract fees. The (SMTP) email is the next biggest fee. We just switched vendors and now pay $.01 per email sent. The last full month with our previous vendor we sent a little more than 7,500 emails, which comes to $75 US with the current (far superior) vendor. FTR, the affiliate commissions for Plugin Boutique were just under $7 US last month, and less than $15 for all of 2025, so it’s not something that is currently paying for the costs of the site, and I really didn’t expect it to at this point, I was just looking to get some help with expenses. If you’re comparing that to the costs of doing a Facebook Group or subreddit, of course, there are no costs to do those, and they’re a lot higher volume. But this site enables us to create our own community that is completely centered on music making with functionality that goes far beyond what could be a done there.  Of course, this is a much greater undertaking, but I think it’s worth it.
