PETER’S HOT TAKE: This is a BFD from SoundPaint, as they do have discounts based on crossgrades and other things, but not across-the-board discounts. I’ll avoid the semantics discussion over not calling this a sale (it is a sale!!!). I think they should do sales promotions, but it’s really not that important to me as a customer — they’re prices are really cheap. SoundPaint sampler is regularly getting better and better. If you haven’t tried it — just pick up the free piano and libraries and I think you’ll soon be a believer. As for their paid libraries, a certain developer / musician friend of mine keeps telling me about how impressed he is with SoundPaint’s CS-80 and while I need to install a new SSD — which is keeping me from buying new sample libraries — I know that I will eventually give in and pick that library up, possible even before I have the drive space for it! But some of the new advances for the SoundPaint plugin are really impressing me. I’ve worked with Tawnia and Troels, and I know that Troels — who has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence — is obsessed with making that plugin great. He’s really passionate about it and he’s been making investments in it, and as a music producer, I find that really exciting. I find it easier to use than any other sampler, and I’ve used Kontakt from its early days, but I can do things with SoundPaint sampler that I don’t know are even possible with Kontakt. SoundPaint is simply a lot easier to use and go deep with.
