Westwood Instruments launches Roots: Dust Piano free Kontakt library

Westwood Instruments has released the third installment in its Roost series of free Kontakt instruments. Dust Piano features the sounds of a Yamaha UC3 upright piano, draped in cotton with a grainy nostalgic aesthetic.

Made from experiments in sampling and our favourite sounds from past projects. We take a singular musical notion and combine it with a set of simple controls.

The outcome is a direct and liberating experience.

Dust Piano includes 2 haunting and beautiful textural layers. The library is free to download for Kontakt and the free Kontakt Player (7.6.0 or higher).

I just installed and tried this out the other day. While it doesn’t have a bunch of velocity layers and is for softer pieces — it’s definitely not a versatile or every day piano library — I really like its character and will be adding it to my recommended free Kontakt sample libraries lists.
