For anyone interested, be aware – according to their webpage, the mini is not velocity/pressure sensitive (which is fine if you’re launching audio clips).

1Let’s just hope this doesn’t go the same way as another audio software developer who used to distribute through a well known retailer. They previously spoke about that retailer’s discount coupons on (I think it was) their own forum. Then they decided to discontinue using that retailer, wanting all customers who bought through said retailer to buy an upgrade from the developer’s own website. When asked why the price was as steep as it was, they repeatedly said they knew nothing of the retailer’s discount coupons. 🙄
I’m looking to add a 12-String VST to my collection. But I can’t decide between OTS and Ample Sound, any recommendations?
You (probably) can’t go wrong with either. They’re both highly respected. I’d say go with the one that fits your workflow if you can’t decide. Ample Sound have some demos of a few of their other instruments (if you’ve never used their engine before); OTS are Kontakt instruments.
In any case, I’d recommend downloading some of their freebies anyway (same link as above).

June 28, 2025 at 6:55 am in reply to: The Best Service Website Is BACK!!! [The Deals are Back!!!] #1000031156Purchases from orders since 2003 appear to be missing under My Products (i.e. the downloads section). But (and more importantly), the transaction data seems to be intact (along with serial numbers) under My Orders & BestCoin.
I’m sure Best Service would be happy to relink available downloads on request; they might already be putting something in place to do so, but decided making the site available to be more important to do first.
In any case, I’m ok with this outcome.

5. Limitation of liability if you are a consumer user
…
5.2 If you are a consumer, we only supply the software and documents for domestic and private use. You agree not to use the software and documents for any commercial, business or re-sale purposes, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.
Does this mean you can’t sell any music you make that feature any of their instruments? (Thought for me, this question is purely hypothetical.)
June 17, 2025 at 1:33 pm in reply to: The Best Service Website Is BACK!!! [The Deals are Back!!!] #1000030734A malicious attack is one interpretation – there’ve been enough making the news recently that it wouldn’t be too surprising.
But all it says is that it’s currently unavailable due to a technical incident and that data security is a top priority. For all we know, this could mean they recently migrated their system to a new one, got a cyber security team to hack it and provide a report, and that they’re fixing known issues before going live.
June 14, 2025 at 3:25 pm in reply to: The Best Service Website Is BACK!!! [The Deals are Back!!!] #1000030573I don’t get it. From the range of products they offered, I would have thought they were doing reasonably well – it’s not like they seemed like a small/start up company offering a limited range of products.
As they were a reseller, I suppose you could contact the original developers with proof of purchase and ask them for a copy from their store. Only problem is, what happens to the Player Engine libraries that were proprietary to Best Service? Some of the Eduardo Tarilonte libraries were pretty good. It’d be a shame that they effectively disappear.

3So I’m not taking any sides when I say this. But… That video was released 6 months ago. According to Audiomodern’s own forum, Soundbox 1.0.1 was released on October 12th, 2024 (scroll down to the bottom).
https://forum.audiomodern.com/t/soundbox-update-log/2049
That video talks about and shows a screenshot of the like/dislike ratio of Soundbox’s launch video at 2:12.
According to Google’s AI (I know; not 100% reliable) and this source:
https://www.makeuseof.com/the-real-reason-why-youtube-hid-dislikes/
YouTube hid the dislike count of videos in November 2021. Dislike counts were not viewable externally for ~3 years before the launch of Soundbox.
2Depending on what you want, you might get a better deal on Audio Plugin Deals – if you have some of APD’s reward cash from previous purchases, you can lower the list prices of some Imaginando products up until the base price. You can then use the $10 coupon 10FORMOM to lower it further (coupon valid only for this weekend [i.e. up until 12 May]).
Edit: coupon only works on carts $40+

I admit I was a little confused by the messaging, but I’m thankful for the generous upgrade scheme. Thanks Overloud!
1February 8, 2025 at 7:12 am in reply to: Musio 1 Back on Sale — for $199 US reg. $399; annual sub $74 US reg $99 #1000023361I havent open the Musio app for 2 weeks. I hope I will not get another surprise.
I bought a licence a while back, but haven’t used it much (due to life getting busy, rather than anything to do with the product). I opened Musio just now to do a quick check, and it detected my licence. So hopefully it was just a one-off glitch.
1I wonder what happens to the MixFX I already own? I see they are “sold out” in the store. Not a deal breaker, just another unclear annoyance.
I believe existing licences will be respected and you can continue to buy others from 3rd party resellers, e.g.
https://www.jrrshop.com/presonus?dir=desc&order=special_from_date
A few people noticed they disappeared from Presonus’ shop a while back when subscription-only rumours were doing the rounds. Apparently someone said on Presonus’ (now closed) forum that they would only temporarily be unavailable while they updated their shop and were still available to buy from resellers.
That said, I haven’t seen this information presented ‘officially’. And so it’s anyone’s guess if this will remain to be the case in future.

I’m tempted too… Is it possible to buy the licence upgrade to 7, not register it until the 8 version announcement, then register it and get the new version during the “grace period”? Hmmm … 🤔
There will be no version 8: v7 is the final major-numbered release. But v7 will receive ongoing updates, e.g. 2025-Q1, 2025-Q2, etc. When you buy, you get 1 year of updates. That likely means if there’s a bug and your one year elapses, you won’t receive a bug fix (as I understand it) unless you buy another year of updates.

1Off the top of my head, it’ll add ALL of the peripheral software, like the Consoles and Batch Processor which I’ve been eyeing for a while.
Are you sure the Consoles are part of it? If you scroll down to the Compare table, Audio Batch Converter (Extension) is definitely included with the perpetual licence. But Pro+ Effects Plug-ins including all MixFX is only included with the subscriptions – I’m not sure if the Consoles are considered MixFX plugins.

PS. I’m still really annoyed – and mystified – that they killed of the forum …
I’m guessing they paywalled it, rather than got rid of it (emphasis is from source):
On November 11th, 2024, the PreSonus Forum was closed permanently. We want to thank you for all of your posts, conversations and comments over the years, we appreciate it a lot.
For members of Studio One Pro+, you will be able to use the Community section in my.presonus.com to continue the conversations.
Just cut off the question mark and everything after
I did think about doing that. But then I thought it might be useful for A Sound Effect’s analytics – and it’s not like I get rewarded for it or anything. So I left it in, with a note that I’m happy to remove it if it violates any policies.
December 11, 2024 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Mini Review of Musio, My Pick for Best BF Deal of 2024; $149 Sale Ends Dec 10 #1000021052He looks thrilled!
I always take several shots. The ones he’s smiling in are the ones with my eyes closed and visa versa.
Take the best of both and combine them to make a diptych 😊
I just received an email from VSTBuzz so they definitely have the old user data. Now, what they do with it is of course a different question.
I’m pretty sure that the guy behind was the one that developers told me did some very shady things with email lists from another business.
I wouldn’t know if that’s true, but I have bought from them a few times previously (under the previous ownership) and hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary. I think I read the previous owner was the same guy behind Pulse Audio (i.e. the shop and library downloader)
It is actually already possible to login if you press the padlock icon on the right, the shop is still there, as is the user account with the orders that were made etc.
Thanks. I did visit the site, but it looked so bare I (incorrectly) assumed the lock was just trying to convey the site was safe, rather than a login button 😂
1I hate it when I have to click open individual product pages just to see the price. I hate it so much, in fact, that I’m not going to even bother checking if there is anything good on offer.
(Apparently, it also makes me grumpy.)
The prices are there on the home page, or am I missing something?
