Looks like if you have version 9 or below, the upgrade is $299. If you have version 10, it’s $199.
Once the upgrade price lowers to $99, I’m all over this one.

If they’re able to offer plugins that never need to be WUP’d, then that means they could potentially offer something like this in their other plugins as well. I mean, I seriously wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more for their plugins(maybe $39-49/each) if it meant that I’d never have to ever WUP them. But that’s just me.
Get rid of the WUP, Waves 😛
1It’s desperation… and a smart move
The Catch = 1. Get new users 2. Reinvigorate interest in their plugins to drum up business
I, for one, haven’t used their plugins since that March 26th debacle a few years back. Tbh, I just lost faith in them. But this is a good move on their part to regain customers’ trust, though
4CrystalDiskInfo
A must-have for Windows users(not sure of Mac alternatives). I have multiple HDDs and this is so invaluable for checking hard drive health, errors and temperature. Definitely use on start-up. This is a great utility to let you know if/when you need to backup your hard drive.

- Have a signed agreement in place. Saves headaches later on.
- Establish who did what. That determines the cut.
- If you’re collaborating with talent, you usually need a talent release.
- Establish how each party will be getting paid. For example, Distrokid has an easy way to divy profits to each collaborator.
- Establish which music platforms you’ll be releasing the music on.
- Other aspects to consider are copyrights and performance royalties(ASCAP, BMI)

1As far as I’m aware, Maschine 2 doesn’t disappear. Much like e.g. previous versions of Kontakt, they stay in your library if you have them. If you have a mk2 device, you can continue to use Maschine 2. The device doesn’t suddenly become a doorstop; you just can’t use it with Maschine 3.
And of course, if that isn’t true, I’m happy to be corrected.
You’re correct. The hardware will continue to work as long as it still works with whatever operating system you’re using. If you’re on MAC, it’ll become obsolete sooner because Apple constantly updates their OS. On Windows, you’ll last a little bit longer.
Good example of a paper weight/door-stopper from Native Instruments…KORE. NI stopped support and drivers for it. Unless you leave your computer on the current OS state/version forever, you’ll most likely need to update your OS and eventually lose the ability to use that NI hardware again. NI don’t even allow you to download or reinstall the software for it(unless you happen to have saved a copy). Pretty shady.

1
Maybe Arturia V Collection.

New album soon!

That’s a good one. Their products are always something that I reach for… great investment. I haven’t upgraded for a while. That’s something I need to ponder
1So what’s the fancy new feature that makes it so hard to keep MK1 and MK2 ‘s supported?
That’s exactly the question that’s preventing me from ever purchasing their hardware again. Compared to other developers, their HW has a relatively short lifespan(in terms of software support). Essentially, NI want you to keep on upgrading to their latest and greatest HW. Just look at some of their midi keyboards that recently became unsupported.
Nasty habit of NI unfortunately.
Sounds like Apple. (ducks and covers)
This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.
Native Instruments – Making the best paper weights and door-stoppers for musicians since 1996

2. Instruments that I play are Piano and Guiter
3. I try to sing
4. As for audio engineering, I received a formal education, but I’m a constant-learner.
5. Genres that I play are: R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop
6. Artists that inspire me are: The Beatles, Bread, Beach Boys, Babyface, Timbaland, Jae-E, Finneas, Diane Warren, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Neptunes, The Carpenters, Burt Bacharach, John Williams, Greg Kurstin (As you can see, I really appreciate the people who are the music-makers…the producers, songwriters, beat-makers, composers, etc)
7. I suppose at the moment, I would consider myself a hobbyist. However, I want that to change. My day job takes so much of my time… It’s difficult to find time to create. I’m hoping to release some more music in the near future.
BONUS QUESTION
My musical goals are more realistic now. I don’t really care about releasing music as an artist anymore. I’d rather work on making music for others as a producer/songwriter.
