I’m hoping all those left behind find their way over here.
Keep inviting others here. We’ve seen a significant spike in visits in the last few months, but to sustain that growth and convert more lurkers to registered members, we need more people posting.
There’s so much that we can do with this place if we can continue our growth. Things like exclusive deals, including group buys, group chats with developers and musicians, add forums that we want to see. This place is our canvas. It’s done out of passion, not some money grab — which frankly, that’s what all of the big forums have become, and the blogs I used to enjoy reading have become little more than shills for developers and retailers. The industry is experiencing very healthy growth, but from my perspective, the beauty of music is in the passion of the art, and all of the money stifles honest conversations, whether it’s honest conversations about the tools we use, making music, the toxicity of social media (including forums in this industry).
I created this as a place where people could share the good and bad experiences with the tools they use, without the forum owner censoring them or without worrying about other members trolling them. We’re not constrained by those limits and censorship of a developer owned forum and the shilling and often toxicity that is common on the big forums doing money grabs.
I wish I didn’t have to turn to affiliate programs to fund the site. I hate the appearance of it. But in more than a year, we’ve had a total of around $60 in contributions and more than $3,000 in costs. I’ve already had developers talk about advertising, but we’re still around a year off of the point when advertising revenue could sustain the costs of running this site and email.
