I’ve been waiting for this sample library for years — 10 years to be specific. Greg Schlaepfer has been sharing his progress on it with me for that long. As a former working drummer who never stopped being in love with the drums and percussion, it’s been difficult to keep hearing about this library’s progress without being able to use it! So, here are the details on Orange Tree Sample Latitude Latin Rock Percussion. I can’t wait to start playing with it this weekend. The download starts tonight!!!
Latitude Latin Rock Percussion delivers a massive collection of deeply-sampled studio percussion. With a total of 376 instruments, often with multiple options for each type of instrument, the library provides a diverse range of traditional and modern sounds.
The factory presets offer immediate inspiration through ready-to-use grooves and curated ensembles in various styles. The library also includes “Menus” for quickly auditioning all the instrument variations, while “Kits” utilize standard General MIDI drum mapping for immediate familiarity.
The collection spans a wide palette of percussion–congas, bongos, timbales, guiros, cowbells, and much more–providing everything a producer needs for creating authentic Brazilian and Afro-Cuban grooves. Its vast assortment of shakers, cajons, mark trees, triangles, and cymbals also makes it an essential songwriter’s toolkit for Rock, Pop, R&B, and beyond.
Key features include:376 instruments, often with multiple options for each instrument type.
Over 1,500 patterns included, along with a powerful built-in pattern editor.
Groundbreaking predictive preroll that anticipates your MIDI notes, eliminating the need for negative track delay.
Playable rolls that let you control the dynamic and speed in real-time.
Multiple mix-ready mic perspectives.
Up to 16x round-robin, 5 dynamics, and numerous articulations.
Latitude Latin Rock Percussion is normally $199, but until May 31st you can get your copy at an introductory price of $159.

I really like all the detailed videos about how this library works… but I’ve yet to see anything detailing the actual instruments/sounds except for a minute or two. Maybe there are others like me on the fence without hearing more, and the intro price end is quickly arriving.
Maybe this is the year I finally release something 🙂
@gregjazz The people want to hear more! Can you help them out?
I know this library is phenomenal and I’ve been aware of Greg working on it for probably a decade. FTR, Greg is incapable of putting out anything mediocre. Seriously. I’ve worked with brilliant technologists in the electronics and engineering world. I was responsible for persuading Padmasree Warrior to become a blogger and coached and edited her blog for her first year as part of my pilot project at Motorola. Greg is the innovator in this space, his peers know it — when we say that he’s a sample library developer, we’re actually technically a bit off, because he is using physical modelling principles, that’s part of the magic of his libraries. I’ve been asked by some very well-respected developers if I could introduce them to Greg. The man put 10 years into this. As always, do the research. But it’s superb.

I’ve started recording some videos that focus on each instrument type and go through all the options. There are so many instruments to cover, I figured that might be the best approach instead of trying to do that in a single video (which would probably end up being hours long). There are a few reviewers who are planning on doing playthroughs of the library, too.
Is there anything else in particular you’d be interested in hearing, or other topics/features covered in videos?

FYI, this isn’t part of any other bundle so $159 is the price no matter what other products you have (and I have them all).
Just wanted to mention that you can still redeem your Orange Slices rewards points on top of Latitude Latin Rock Percussion’s intro discount. So although the library doesn’t have any bundle upgrade/crossgrade paths, you can still get an extra discount that way.
If you haven’t already, you can earn 15% off worth of rewards points by answering a few quick survey questions here: https://www.orangetreesamples.com/account/survey
