Reddit is a lot of fun, if (1) you avoid subreddits where trolls run free (unfortunately, there are a lot of those; LinkedMusicians will carry our values and standards to our subreddit and wherever we go) and (2) are experienced with legacy forums like this one, Cakewalk Discuss, KVR, GearSpace, VI-Control… After it all starts to click, you’ll see that it’s much more interesting and moves at a more engaging rate than old-school forums. Getting started is the hardest part.
So, last night, I had an idea. I thought I’d write a guide that makes understanding Reddit simple for anyone familiar with old-school forums. Feel free to use this thread to ask questions and share your thoughts.

Here’s a short video on Reddit from PC Mag. Keep in mind that the LinkedMusicians subreddit will maintain our same rules and values for non-toxicity, but if you venture outside of our subreddit, like other social media platforms, it can be highly toxic. LinkedMusicians is fundamentally committed to remaining non-toxic. That will never change.

There’s a question I’ve been PMed by a few members that I wanted to add to this thread: Will the LinkedMusicians subreddit hold to the same standard of non-toxicity that we maintain at this site. The answer is yes. While we certainly will see a lot more new members posting on the subreddit and that increase in members will certainly come with challenges, we will have the same zero tolerance for toxic behavior that we have always had. It is a core value of this community and I wouldn’t do this without holding to that value. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully, and anything less will not be accepted. Furthermore, everyone should have the right to share honest experiences with the tools they use to make music in a respectful, civil manner. That will not change.
