        I was surprised by seeing what qualifies for the crossgrade pricing — pre-Band Lab Sonar X2 (not the current product, but the perpetual license Sonar X2 before BandLab purchased the assets of the company from Gibson)! Here’s the list:

        Requirements: Proof of purchase a crossgradeble DAW: ab Acid Pro 9, Bitwig Studio 2, Cubase 9, Digital Performer 9, FL Studio 12, Live 9, Logic Pro 9, Mixcraft 8, Nuendo 8, Pro Tools 11, Reaper 5, Reason 10, Samplitude Pro X4, Sonar X2, Tracktion Waveform 10

            @doug

            The upgrade at JRR is $83.99 is you use the GROUP code. It is strange that the upgrade is more expensive than the crossgrade at Thomann. I was about to make a snide comment about customer loyalty but JRR’s pricing makes more sense.

            This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.

              I think that all of us were originally Sonar users (I go back to the first version). Have any of you successfully converted your Sonar files over to Fender Studio Pro? I know that @bapu had posted about a conversion app someone wrote, but I am yet to embark on that mission, and I have hundreds of project files.

              I thought I might as well get started at some point instead of popping old projects open in Sonar. Every sign from BandLab makes it look like Sonar is being used for parts for NEXT and will be gone easily within the next 2 years. I want to get things concerted before I’m no longer able to open them in Sonar.  I am not looking forward to the process of converting everything. I’d love to have an idea of what others have experienced so I can properly set my expectations.

                Can you get the crossgrade version if you already own Fender Studio to extend the subscription?

                  I doubt it. But the official upgrade price from JRR listed above is cheaper than any of the crossgrades listed here.

                    @cookiejarvis

                    That’s actually a great price but I need another DAW like I need a hole in my head! 😉

                    I’ve been slowly converting old Sonar projects over to Nuendo. I first create an empty project in Nuendo and match BPM, tempo, and time signatures. Next I render out all the individual audio clips and note locations to match placement(you can render out the full tracks but then you may wind up with lots of silence leading to cuts and fades). Finally I copy out the Midi tracks and note the synth and preset for each while noting all the settings. If you run into an older synth that won’t work you can render that track as audio to place beside it’s Midi track in the new project to give you a reference for finding a similar synth sound.

                    I’m actually using a few old Sonar pieces converted to Nuendo in the new album I’m working on! 🙂

                    A lot of demo stuff here- https://www.reverbnation.com/daylight

                      I hears ya. I have 13 holes in my head.

                      Fender Studio Pro
                      Cubase
                      Reaper
                      Pro Tools
                      Harrison Mixbus
                      Cakewalk (free, no need for the extras now)
                      Digital Performer
                      FL Studio
                      Bitwig
                      Reason
                      Universal Audio Luna
                      Samplitude
                      Mixcraft

                      The mainly used DAWs are (in order of use)
                      Fender Studio Pro
                      Cubase
                      Reaper

                      When I get Reaper projects, I use the ProjetConverter program to convert to DAWProject format then open that DawProject file in Fender Studio Pro and save it. Then in my main Fender Studio Pro project I use the built copy song data from that converted project.

                      When I get Cubase Projects, I export to DAWProject format and open that DawProject file in Fender Studio Pro and save it. Then in my main Fender Studio Pro project I use the built copy song data from that converted project.

                      Our keyboard player (Tom) uses Reaper and so I just send him stems and he sends back a full project with all his parts. Sadly there is a bit of a mismatch between DAWProject format using ProjectConvertor to import into Reaper. I wish Reaper would adopt DAWProject import/export.

                      Our drummer (Hugo) uses Cubase so I export my project Fender Studio Pro to DAWProject format for import/save to Cubase. Simples.

                      Our singer (Ken) and guitarist (Eren) use Studio One 7, soon to upgrade to Fender version, so they get a V7 “tracking version” of the project and they send their full production of their parts and I just use the Fender Studio Pro built in import Song Data function on their projects (or import stems if that is what they send).
