LinkedMusicians has the most extensive curated list of reviewed and recommended sample libraries for Kontakt you can find anywhere. It’s a great — regularly maintained — resource for musicians that has helped a lot more people become aware of the LinkedMusicians community. Now we’re out to do the same thing for free effects. And, like the free Kontakt instrument list, we’ll keep it regularly updated, and like every topic/thread here, our registered members can subscribe to receive email alerts when new effects are added.

Now, we have a really good start on the list. I’ve collected so many excellent free effects over the years that it can be hard to recall them all (especially because I often work on LinkedMusicians on my laptop, not my DAW PC). Having the help of @lamia6 and @superabbit , two people who really know this area well, and, just the other day, @thesteven. made some recommendations in another thread that I added to the list.

All of this takes our collective knowledge and puts it together in one place, in a way that is very useful for our community. So, please, take a few minutes, look over the list — I bet that you’ll find some gems you weren’t previously aware of — and then, if you know of some freebies you can recommend, please post in the thread and help make a very good resource even better.

Yeah, that’s clearly a pretty good list of freebies. The difference with the lists that LinkedMusicians is doing is that our lists are of tested and recommended plugins and sample libraries. We’re not just churning out a list like Production Expert does of what’s out there. The value we add is by our lists only including plugins and sample libraries that have been tested and recommended as some of the highest quality freebies available. There’s so much free stuff out there that there’s real value in helping point people to the best stuff so that they don’t have to waste their time and energy with mediocre or worse freebies.
