      Moderator: Please move this to the correct forum. I couldn’t figure out where to put it.

      <hr />

      To make Orange Tree guitars sound the most realistic, the fret position needs to be manually adjusted to where you want the note played. I  found this most easiest to do using CC. Greg does this by using CC2, Breath Controller, in his demos, so I’ll do the same.

      1. In Kontakt: select View > Side Pane
      2. On Side Pane’s far right, select the Automation tab
      3. On the sub-pane that appears, select MIDI Automation on the far right. You’ll see the list of CCs.
      4. Click/drag CC2 over to the instrument’s Fretboard Position values in it’s Setup screen. Release the mouse.

      Voila! CC2 now controls the fretboard position. As the notes are played, the accompanying CC2 automation can be used to properly select which fret to play it on (because they all sound different). However, which CC value corresponds to which fret position?

      I have attached a spreadsheet that lists this correspondence for a few of the instruments I have used. Obviously, this is still a work in progress so feel free to add your favorite Orange Tree instrument to this and upload it here.

      To use it:

      1. select the instrument you’re using (Dry Relic, column D for example)
      2. find which fret position you want to use (8th fret, column D, for example)
      3. Column A lists the CC value you need to use (64 to 71, for example).

      As a guitar power-user, I have found this extremely useful and hope you will, too

        @peter

        @fretman This is a really cool post. The reason you couldn’t find this forum is because it was hidden! It existed when I first registered you, then I hid it because there were no posts. So, congratulations, you are the first! And thanks for sharing that post.
