This let’s me complete my collection of SSL X-series plugins. I don’t know if I like them. I’ve never used them. But, YAY! My collection is now complete!

Ha! Should the takeaway on that be that because these plugins have recently become so accessible (AKA inexpensive when on sale) that it’s now easy to become a collector without taking out a second mortgage? SSL and UAD plugins were out of my price range only a few years ago, and now they’re selling them for Waves sale prices, but without the WUP.

Chris Lord-Alge is known to uses SSL plugins. despite having a studio with the hardware equivalent. So do other big names like Chuck Ainlay (he remixed Frampton Comes Alive with SSL plugins!) and Tony Maserati. When I think of all the money I spent on lower end stuff years ago. Those just getting started can get amazing quality digital gear for a fraction of what things cost only 5 years ago. Granted, that makes things a lot more challenging for the smallest developers, but it also makes great gear more accessible for every aspiring music producer and engineer.
